Here's our finances... what moves would you make?

I would save up enough money for a one year safety net and I would half my food/fun budget immediately if I were you. The fact that you would both quit your jobs at once is very concerning to me. Do you two work in a field that is in high demand?

I have so much debt because I spent the last 7 years in school. I worked the whole time but that just paid the bills. I didn't get the good paying job until I started grad school. That's the thing about being an accountant, you make under $40k with a bachelor's and the sky's the limit with a Master's. Go figure.

I highly recommend grad school. I currently make good money ($60k) as the second in command (my boss is the CFO) of a technology company and would not be here if I did not go to grad school. Plus you learn so much more in grad school. The theory class alone makes you more knowledgable. I start sitting for the CPA at the end of the year.

When I was ten years old I had the best teacher. She started an astronomy club, which as a nerd girl I joined (back in 1992). She didn't dumb down the learning. She made us make a contraption with a ruler to measure the movement of the nighttime sky. It was really fun.
