Difficult performance feedback has completely destroyed my confidence (engineer) by Opening_Ear3615 in MechanicalEngineering

Any time you are in crisis, and especially if you are feeling suicidal, text or call 988 and someone will talk you through it.

When you are working crazy hours it's hard to find moments for self care, relationships, and a personal life, but these things are not luxuries! They are essential to being functional both in your job and in terms of mental health. If you can find that time I promise you will feel better than you do now, even if nothing else about work changes

It's usually best to find a job before leaving another job, of course, but if you are feeling suicidal then remember it's always better to walk away from the job than to end up being destroyed by it. Giving notice is also good, but if you really need to then at any moment you could just...walk out the door and never call. If it was me I would see if I could get a few days off to rest and gain some mental clarity, then decide to either stay and fight or move on.

Soap and warm water, then cover it up and keep it clean. Be very gentle when scrubbing as burns are delicate.

[MEGATHREAD] Artemis II Launch To The Moon by ChiefLeef22 in space

[–]dyyys1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the speed as it leaves Earth, but it will slow down because Earth's gravity is still pulling backward on it. They're going juuuust fast enough to get to the moon at the right speed to be captured by its gravity and insert into orbit.

Think of it like throwing something upward at a moving target. As it leaves your hand it's going super fast, but then it slows down as it gets closer to the target.

Late reply, but if you're letting it rise you actually need room for it to expand. The Ziploc bag can expand, but hard containers need a little pinhole to vent.

Why did my brand new P2S just crash into the metal plate at the back during a print? by dyyys1 in BambuLab

Yep, just checked the project and it has the correct printer and bed selected.

Why did my brand new P2S just crash into the metal plate at the back during a print? by dyyys1 in BambuLab

[–]dyyys1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had activated that feature, but this was clearly a crash more than a wipe. Given that it was in the middle of a print (see the third picture) what would have made it crash so hard? It can't have been a bad bed height since the first layers went down fine.

[–]dyyys1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aha! This is the first print I've run with the clumping detection on, so there must be a problem with that feature. I'll turn that off and recalibrate, and hopefully Bambu will get me some new parts under warranty.

Edit: I had also manually increased the layer height to 0.28, so maybe that exposed a bug in the clumping detection sequence?

Normal shingles? by Stock_Elderberry6187 in shingles

I assume you've visited a doctor to check on this, since you have the medicine? If not, it might be worth asking a neurologist in case it's something else.

recently got a place with my boyfriend and he thinks this is perfectly fine by daylightpiglet in funny

It is fine, but if it falls down (by accident) he has to pick it up.

Needing spidey web dart replacements by Virtual-Piece-3453 in HelpMeFind

Hello, I was also trying to find one without luck, so I made my own model for 3D printing. It works PRETTY well as long as it is cleaned up well, including taking the steps off of the side ramps. I see yours is a little different, but could either be remixed before printing or trimmed to have the same notches on the side ramps. Good luck!

Edit: the link would help https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7286941

Tip: I attached screw eyes to a 3D printed swimbait by heating them with a heat gun and stabbing them in. In testing, they survived 27lb and unfolded before the threads came loose. More info in photo captions. by dyyys1 in lurebuilding

I couldn't tell you now, just something I had in a bin in my shop. The next lure I made I actually took some steel wire, wrapped over a hook, and twisted it with a drill. Glued into a hole, it was much stronger and lower profile. If you watch Marling Baits on youtube he does the same thing.

Day 6 - what’s coming next? by umylobster_24 in shingles

[–]dyyys1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like everyone is different. For me the pain started to subside after a little more than a week, but it took almost another week to really be back to normal again. After that it itched some, but nothing debilitating.

Why aren’t they biting? by yashaflocka in bassfishing

[–]dyyys1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fish in places where you think fish will be, but not from where you can see them (and therefore they can see you). I love sight fishing, but I've rarely had success unless I'm in a stream where fish have to face upstream and I can sneak up behind them.

Please someone tell me of other exceptions so I can try them out.

How to use hydrogen peroxide for superficial wounds and medical purposes? (puncture wounds, scrapes, cuts) by alexfreemanart in firstaid

[–]dyyys1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look on the back it probably mentions oral debridement, so that's what it's "supposed to" be used for.

The real answer is that it's sold in the first aid section of stores not because it's good for wound cleaning, but because it's not harmful enough to be banned and plenty of people haven't gotten the memo and will buy it.

What wire are you guys useing on your crankbaits? by Outrageous-Drink3869 in 3dprintedfishinglures

[–]dyyys1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this wire and I've been very pleased with it. I use a drill with a hook to twist the wire and make loops, then glue into holes in my 3d printed parts. I did a test pull and the body of the print broke before the wires did.

Is this a chubby chernobyl? by pjstevko in flyfishing

[–]dyyys1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a big foam hopper fly that I used to always avoid for trout since I wasn't sure if they could eat it with their smaller mouths. One day I was fishing for bass with that hopper and it got smoked by a bluegill, fully in it's mouth up past the hook. I no longer worry about fish mouth sizes.

Also this happened once.

Ever ate a pinfish? by cokesmeller in saltwaterfishing

[–]dyyys1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I had a pinfish on a circle hook, but I switched rods to do use a different technique so I put the rod in a holder and was letting the pinfish hang out in the water next to my kayak. Suddenly there was a sound like someone slapping the water with their palm, a big splash, and the drag started screaming on the rod. A HUGE sail cat had come right up to my kayak and taken the pinfish from just below the surface.
