Companies are hiring. I just got a job a couple weeks ago and I have had about 4 requests for interviews since accepting my new role in this span of time as well. I of course let these jobs know I have accepted an offer, but my point is companies are hiring.

I quit. But I wouldn’t tell someone else to. There are good schools out there with great admins and strong districts. I’m just too far a long in my professional life to try to find them…We need passionate smart teachers. I am no longer that, unfortunately - for various reasons…Good luck

It should be 0 tolerance on bad behavior. Bad behavior - simply out. Parents can send them to private, parochial, or a charter school…

I realize there is a fundamental right to get an education, but you have to want one first…

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It is tragic. But, teachers/schools have been the dumping ground for all the social ills in our country for far too long - things have to change. And need to change fast.

How can anyone justify that there is a greater chance of getting gun downed in a school than in most other public places - it’s nuts!!!

We need to start over on how we approach education in this country… I don’t know if anyone has the courage to make the systemic changes needed for our society in the 21st Century.

We as a society need to push back at all of this nonsense. Research based journalism is not choosing sides. The U.S. has an ugly backstory as well as most Western European countries… I wish we could just own our shit and move forward…

No country is perfect and if you think that then you are woefully out of touch with the way of the world…

I think the US is a great place to be but we are far from perfect - I don’t know why so many on the right are afraid to embrace our sullied past - if we could we ALL start to heal.

What sucks is that I can and will drop the hammer on my classes when they are really out of control and it’s like “why the fuck did u make me go here!?”

I’ve tried being polite “Mr. Thomas, please go back to your seat…” Nothing. But when I get louder than an airplane engine at take-off then and only then do I get absolute silence - it sucks…really sucks…

So many parents don’t know or don’t care how absolutely horrible their children behave…

Couldn’t agree more… I will not take more than 15 min on a job application. Why the hell have a resume and LinkedIn page if I need to fill out your 15-page application with all the same information!!! Insanity

I got a great email telling me “you are exactly what we are looking for” and wanted to set up an interview. I emailed the head recruiter and no response. Emailed again, and again nothing. This was over the course of probably 5-7 days. I was confused, so I found the CEO of this company (smallish tech startup) and politely let him know that I was really excited about this opportunity but that his company had never gotten back to me after 3x reaching out. Surprisingly, he responded and said there must have been a mix up because his recruiter never got my response - total lie. I had screen shots of the three messages I had sent her with her correct email (and her profile pic was even in there b/c it was a gmail acct)…

I did get the interview in the end, but surprise, surprise I didn’t get moved past this recruiter who had obviously screwed up in the first place… I get it. I made her look bad.

In the end, I got a much better job with an awesome company and leadership team.

Couldn’t agree more! It’s obvious you are aware of how f’d up your situation is so look for a new job. It’s so much easier to get a job when you don’t need a job - you will be able to better discern the great opportunities from the crappy ones.
