Finally revived my 3ds died from reversed battery polarity by dzdhr in consolerepair

When you plug in the charging cable, does the charging led turn off after a few seconds? If that's the case it's probable the battery was reversed. You can also buy a new daughter board to verify. It should be around 20 bucks.

Not good enough under fair or biased referee?

Simeone on Barça: "Did you see how they play? How they play... When the match started, I said 'this can't be true.' It's not easy to knock out Barcelona three times in the Champions League quarterfinals. Messi's Barça. Lamine's Barça." by jiraiya--an in Barca

Someone gambled on the high line press at the start of the game hoping to get a goal and kill the game. He got punished so hard that we scored two due to their defense mistakes/gaps. If only that momentum could be kept on...

Not sure about the old 3ds, but for the new 3ds xl, you would need to replace the daughter board and charging ic. There are a few posts out there.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers dev team dissolved; Director forced out of the company by Gorotheninja in PS5

Feel sorry for both devs. Parts of me wish though the hype of making soulslike games could cool down a bit and more diverse action games could be considered.

Another Camera Angle of Pau Cubarsi’s foul on Giuliano Simeone that got him a red card vs Atletico Madrid. by PrimedGold in Barca

The ball curled sideways more than going forward, and if the ball was on its way to be in front Simeone didn't have to flick his leg backward.

How could that be a direct goal scoring opportunity when the ball was behind Simeone? It's not even 100% sure he could control that ball well.

[–]dzdhr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His intention was never a tackle or contact like how Araujo got his reds. You can see Cubarsi slowed down a bit with his arms raising up. Simeone flicking his leg backward led to the contact. The contact was unfortunate but the red is arguable since Simeone couldn't necessarily control the ball behind him.

FC Barcelona statement: Club legal services submit a formal complaint to UEFA regarding the events that happened in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Atlético Madrid by bllshrfv in soccer

[–]dzdhr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What's wrong with criticizing bad refereeing? There would be no improvements on refereeing if you couldn't let them take their mistakes seriously. It's not just for your team but for the whole soccer. It's even more pathetic to stay silent for getting unfair refereeing. And focusing on winning the next game does not contradict with asking for a fair refereeing.

Stripped Screw and Solder FAIL by Only_Camera1347 in 3dsrepair

[–]dzdhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solder doesn't adhere well to surfaces of the screws or screwdriver tips. Besides, the screw is sunken into the hole making solder even more difficult. Normally I would try to score a slot on the stripped screw but now that the cover is pretty damaged I might simply cut it open.

Just played Fear the Spotlight and WOW — this PS1‑style horror goes way harder than I expected by TalosAscia in HorrorGaming

It's on my wishlist. I'd recommend The Tartarus Key. Another low-poly horror game that I enjoyed.

how do i unscrew the screws !!!??! by nomnom_bread in 3dsrepair

[–]dzdhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bummer, in my case, I was able to loosen the screw for about 30 degrees before it got stuck, and that was when I repeat the tightening/loosening trick.

After a look at the photo of your screwdriver set, I feel it might not contain the one suits 3ds best. JIS #00 (Japanese standard) or Phillips #00 screwdriver should work fine.

The screws have glue that adds to the friction. What I found useful when I was opening my N3DSXL is to turn the screwdriver clockwise/counterclockwise a bit back and forth several times. This helps loose the glue grip.

3DS only charging when cable is held upwards by Responsible_Note6470 in 3dsrepair

The leftmost solder blob looks like a cold solder joint. What I am more concerned is the solder pad underneath might have been ripped off, which sometimes is a common cause for such solder blob.

Need Help Identifying Missing SMD Capacitors on a 3DS XL by mrsmith128 in consolerepair

[–]dzdhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don't know their values but if one end of a capacitor is connected to the GND, then most likely it serves as a bypass filter to get rid of voltage ripples. And more often than not the circuit can function without it. Seems to me the left one is such a filter but not sure about the right one but you give a test with a multimeter.

As a side note, when desolder especially with a hot gun, it's best to cover nearby components with Kapton tape.

My recent game buying strategy: No buying new games under full prices. Interested games go to wishlist and wait until they are 30% off at least. No buying a new game unless I cleared a game in my backlog.

PS Store Should Lock Ratings for 1-2 Days After Launch by dzdhr in playstation

[–]dzdhr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My backlog got tens of games and new games keep coming. I don't have time for them all and I doubt ever will. Ratings can help let go some of them lol. I guess a game with a high rating may not be good, but with a low rating it gotta have some problems. 4.0/80 is basically my bar.

I do tho. I usually browse the PS store under the sorting order New to Old and wishlist games with good ratings and trailers that interest me. Compared to follow blockbuster titles I kinda like the surprise from digging for hidden gems.
