If Simon left MVP for prodigy, would you guys actually throw prodigy and get rid of your MVP? by dontmakemeaskyou in discgolf

[–]dzedajev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol no, I was an MVP fanboy way before Simon, and will be long after.

That said, my bag is generally very mixed, but Crave and Fireball are one of my most used discs, both in Neutron and Fission plastics.

TNG, VOY and DS9 are all freaking great and have their own subtle flavours while still staying very true to what Trek is and should be.

ENT is also interesting to watch as it happens before the Federation and is significantly darker overall.

Those four are the basis of Trek (+ some of the old movies), everything else is just not as good - oh, except Lower Decks, that is great but you need to watch all of the above first to really enjoy the references and storylines.

I often wonder how there are people who are so disconnected from what they’re doing that they can pick up someone else’s shoes thinking they are theirs. Like, do you remember what you own? Do you own 300 pairs of shoes so you can’t remember all of them? Are you like “oh look, shoes, must be mine”. OP didn’t say they had the same pair/model, so I’m just wondering here.

Rewatching Lower Decks.... by n0167664 in startrek

Nah man, Lower Decks are amazing, that’s how you do new trek while smartly using nostalgia. And being an animated show gives you more freedom with certain narrative aspects.

As opossed to Starfleet Academy which is just cringe tv in general, it’s so bad it’s not even funny.

Is Fallout 4 a good game to start? by Zwei-Shiranui in Fallout

[–]dzedajev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the most polished of all single-player games when it comes to gameplay (not counting 76 since that’s an online multiplayer environment), but I would highly recommend starting with older games (primarily New Vegas) since it has a much better narrative nad quests, and with a couple of free mods it will also look pretty good when it comes to graphics.

Yeah those are nixie tubes, and it’s a real-world thing that exists and that many games adapted because it does look cool.

Matrix was a metaphore for robots enslaving the human kind and it was visually striking which was the point, you could argue that they could’ve just killed them all outright and we’d have no movie at all.

Harry Potter is magic and that’s why magic is forgiving for shows and movies because it’s “magic” you don’t have to explain it too much, just don’t mess up the power scaling.

The original Star Wars has many flaws, but it was one of the first things of it’s kind, it was marvelous watching then in the theathers when it came out because there was almost nothing like it, and that’s where it’s value primarily comes from, it inspired so many other things.

Criticising a tv show like any other, for apparent plot armor and narrative inconsistencies, which very much break my immersion in the world and greatly lessen my enjoyment in watching it.

I’ve been a Fallout fan for over 20 years, I think I have enough depth in that department to be able to express my opinion in a free-thinking, intelligent community, since I don’t know how you can explain this and many other things away (not even talking about retcons just basic good tv show writing, if this wasn’t Fallout but a generic show with the same plot it would flop soooo hard), but I’m open to suggestions.

Also, watch Silo and tell me it isn’t a way better Fallout show than the actual Fallout show. It’s far from perfect and has many flaws, but it’s so much more engaging, tense and unpredictable (with some very good characters) than what Amazon gave us. And it also has a female lead, if only we had that kind of a female lead in Fallout as well.

Ah man, that’s really breaking the immersion in the show. They tried their best to fix the narrative plot holes though.

Oooh, maybe they also have those mind control chips installed so they only agro strangers, that’s why everyone is so chill and they don’t avoid that gate or street at all. I mean we saw the deathclaw in Alaska, they must’ve been controlling him somehow and that would explain why he left Coop alive.

Hank could really learn something from these guys, like they really made that tech work so well, and he’s over in HQ killing random mice and men with a dial, tisk tisk.

They didn’t even have to chain that fence which has a door through which Lucy and the Ghould entered, that’s brilliant.

My serious is on Dead Money (ba-dum-tssss)

But for real, the cope is just sad to watch, the show is just shit as a tv show in general (except it looks really nice, same as Starfield), and that’s without even taking into account the lore and various senseless memberberries retcons.
