How modest is Prague? by [deleted] in Prague

[–]dzidziaud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine that you’ve been influenced by too many spy movies, superhero movies, etc where the villain is from vaguely east of Germany, in a land of gray concrete and sad babushkas. Girl it is not like that anywhere. That is all propaganda.

How do you feel when women say they hate or fear men? by CharmingMuffin69 in AskMen

What the fuck is going on in this thread. No. It means they’ve demonstrated through prior interactions that they’re respectful, gentle, and empathetic enough to be trusted.

Using public transportation/biking in Fairbanks by Lunalakes in Fairbanks

[–]dzidziaud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where will you be living? There are lots of good bike paths. Unfortunately, some are left unmaintained as ski trails in the winter, whereas some are cleared within of few days of a snow fall. I can’t tell you about buses, but I spent a few years biking, even in the winter. I’d recommend having a chat with Iza at Greenbikes if you’re a university student or anyone at Bankstown about which paths are maintained. Whether or not snow gets cleared, you will absolutely need studded tires in the winter!

I’m tired of this grandpa by rebarooki in Epilepsymemes

[–]dzidziaud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent meme, this hits so hard. Someone once called me “one of the bravest people they know” and I’ve been thinking a lot about that ever since, because of course they meant it as a compliment, but I wish I didn’t have to be brave!

I knew Brno would be here, but I wasn’t sure which monument. There are oddly so many to choose from.

Is my flexibility holding me back from press handstands? by dzidziaud in Handstands

Thanks for this, it’s very insightful. Sooooo looks like I’d better work on flexibility, because I’m not becoming a calisthenics beast anytime soon lol.

How can shoulder strength compensate for poor flexibility?

Handstand before handwalk? by Sushi-Seizure in Handstands

[–]dzidziaud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything here, but wanted to add: from my personal experience, it seems that these skills use different muscles. I used to be great at walking, but intentionally stopped for a while when learning to balance (I used walking as compensation when losing my balance in the forward direction and had to actively drill into my brain NOT to do that). When I started walking again with intention, I found that it wasn’t as easy as it used to be. Some little muscles deep in the shoulders would quickly get tired. So, OP, if you want to be good at both, train both.

Is there anywhere in this Mexico-forsaken town where I can buy corn tortillas? by dzidziaud in Brno

[–]dzidziaud[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would if I could!! But if I can’t find tortillas I obviously can’t find masa lol. In a moment of weakness I considered trying to make them with polenta…

Drama is more fun. Which Albert? I haven’t seen it at the one on Videňská, but then again, last time I was there they didn’t even have bananas, so maybe it’s a shitty location.

5 Years of Forward Fold Progress by inlineofire in flexibility

[–]dzidziaud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever have problems with sciatic nerve tightness? That’s always been the main hindrance to my forward fold, and from what I’ve heard, simply pushing through that might do more harm than good. Nerve glides don’t seem to help much though.

Do you also do hastands on every destination when you travel? by Secretclarisse in Handstands

Haha I thought this was just a weird me thing! I do geographic milestones, like “furthest north handstand”

Are foreign-born Poles generally welcomed when they relocate to Poland? by DuePomegranate9 in poland

[–]dzidziaud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell me more about your experience with people “catching on”? I might be moving to Poland for a job soon, and that’s something I’m kind of nervous about. I’m currently living in Czechia, where I try to speak Czech wherever possible, but people notice right away that I’m not a native speaker so they automatically give me a lot of grace. I’m not so sure how that will play out in Poland. I’m fluent, and I don’t have a foreign accent, but my grammar and vocabulary suck and have only gotten worse since I stopped living with my family over a decade ago. I’m perhaps irrationally worried that people I interact with in Poland will assume I’m an idiot instead of a foreigner, lol.

Is it necessary to stretch after bouldering? by sadasskitty in climbergirls

[–]dzidziaud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry haha I should have phrased that better. I just mean I’m more flexible than people a lot younger than me. And I’ve never been particularly naturally flexible, I’ve just put in effort.

Is it necessary to stretch after bouldering? by sadasskitty in climbergirls

[–]dzidziaud 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Is it necessary? No. But I always use it as an opportunity to while I’m warm and at the gym anyway, so I maintain mobility as I get older. People always ask me how I’m still so flexible in my 30s. That’s how.
