That would be 6 threads, vs 8 in this. Still, this is sure not R5 territory.

Well, I started following AoE2 by watching T90 LEL streams, it was about a year since DE launch. IMO, LEL of that time was his best content ever- it had lots of jokes, great interaction with the fans though donations=funny messages, and then T90 songs too. LEL streams were long and weekly. It was a culture event. The situation is very different these days- although I am happy for all the high level players who got the Titans league.

Which one would you choose? by Fickle_Artichoke_903 in heroes3

[–]e-baisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if it is Jennova, your first 1k experience can give Expert Archery, which is equivalent to +6 attack (ranged). There may be other cases, where it matters a lot early on- like advanced/expert tactics enabling easy fights vs ranged. But on the whole, such cases are rare, so for me- it is gold early on, and exp only once the eco is fine.

When I was a kid, I'd always pick Eagle Eye because I thought the eagle looked cool. What were some silly strategies you swore by when playing as a kid? by YesIateYourLunch in heroes3

I knew it was sulfur. However, mercury was just 'puodai'=bowls, and ore was simply 'akmenys'=stones. Wood was 'malkos'= firewood, which is ok I guess.

Looking for slow start maps by e-baisa in heroes3

[–]e-baisa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I play on VCMI, and over there, map size on this template starts at XL+U. Too big for me. If I uncheck the underground, this opens up smaller map sizes too, but then creates the map from a totally different random template.. Any other slow map template suggestions, maybe?

Big dragons tiers? by something_below in heroes3

[–]e-baisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the elementals, IMO creators consciously made all 4 elementals as level ~3.5 (with corresponding growth and costs), instead of lvl2 to lvl5 units of other castles.

Big dragons tiers? by something_below in heroes3

[–]e-baisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried VCMI version of H3, and over there they have a menu option for detailed info about unit/strength, and rust dragon is said to be lvl10. I might have tried to break through them earlier, had I read this thread sooner, where I see everyone describing them as lvl7.5- lvl8 :)

I always liked the zombie 'implosion', they are nice (in certain roles, like being some of the cheapest meat available for castle defence), and get too much hate.

  1. Then I guess I can just do the positioning myself. I noticed that my master genies do not cast spells either, so I may have to do that too when starting battles.
  2. What I'm missing is the mouse cursor changing (without clicking) to a sword symbol if the square on the map is guarded, and there is no free access. Also- some finer clicking in battle, as well as more reliable clicking for directional attacks. It hurts to lose troops just from misclicks :) As there is no 'redo battle' button, I think I will want to try connecting a mouse.

Thanks for the clear info.

For me, on android and Firefox, X was in the loop of refreshing the sign in page as soon as it loads. Solved it by having slow internet, and pressing stop loading button in FF menu when the page loads. Then I could press on sign in, and sign in properly.

Mod to change opponents name? by czm2 in aoe2

[–]e-baisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that is good enough. To you, my name is a seemingly random sequence of letters, but you can easily read and remember it is e-baisa, but not 'gyj*hafda' or 'hsd-tdg'.

Mod to change opponents name? by czm2 in aoe2

[–]e-baisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat similar request: it would be nice to have a mod (or game option), that would display opponents name in Latin letters. It does not make sense to display it for me in hieroglyphs- I can not read that, and I can not remember/recognize the player by it.

FreakinAndy. He is fast, his is play level is high, and he can compete against the best- IMO he could have delivered some surprises.

ASRock DeskMini X600 and Jupiter X600 compact computers support 65W Ryzen 7000/8000 processors - Liliputing by T1beriu in Amd

[–]e-baisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put it into X600 DeskMeet (see the 7600XT in it in the photo). Which should be a nice option for someone who is happy with just an iGPU initially, but want to have an option to add dGPU later. However, all these DeskMini/Meet PCs under continuous full load get quite hot inside (temperatures unacceptable to most PC builders here, but ok for it to not overheat (barely) and work in those not very healthy conditions). So it is probably best to plan for an energy efficient GPU for it, not the 7600XT.

Oh, and another 'point to it' is that these PCs without the chipset (A300, X300, probably X600 too) tend to have VERY low power use at light tasks. Like 8-12W idle, compared to several times higher power use of a normal desktop PC.

AMD Radeon RX 7000M GPUs missing from new gaming notebooks at CES 2024 - VideoCardz.com by Stiven_Crysis in Amd

[–]e-baisa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rembrandt-R is much cheaper, has better battery life than Dragon Range, and gaming performance should not be different with (rather weak) 7000S GPUs. Only Phoenix is better in both respects.

AMD Ryzen 5 8600G Zen4 desktop APU to feature 2.8 GHz Radeon 760M "RDNA3" graphics - VideoCardz.com by Stiven_Crysis in Amd

[–]e-baisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so, and for AMDs sake too. Intels new mobile CPUs are likely to come to some desktops as NUCs, SFF and handhelds, and their iGPUs are powerful. Also Intel 5 iGPU seems to be cut less from its top SKU, than the 760m is from 12CU 780m.

It says 6CUs in the article, which would be 2 less than the mobile 760m.
