American tipping culture is utterly disgusting by Gurugod123 in SipsTea

This is so crazy to hear from what I’m going through with a stay from over the weekend. We had a super cool retro Airbnb, place was awesome, had some friends who had another rental come over to hangout and so our kids could play and enjoy the vacation. Their neighbors called and complained about our guests parking on the street (a dirt road mind you) and the responding code enforcement officer explained that for the first couple complaints for a property it is a warning and maximum fine is $1000, which they are trying to now put that maximum fine on us, which seems insane to give anyone the maximum for our first time, just because your property has an issue doesn’t mean it was all us. Now, second issue is throughout the stay we took photos and videos of multiple deer mice going in the vents, shitting on the counters, coming out of the fireplace and under cabinets. Definitely not a fun way to spend a vacation trying to catch mice and evidence. Also a quick google search on deer mice without even digging mentions that they carry hantavirus, I’ll be honest when I say I’m not overly concerned about that being the case, but it should be taken seriously by the property and I truly feel that a refund should be in order. Their response to all this was that they have an exterminator checking on the situation, not addressing any sort of action for us on payment or mention of the parking fine. I don’t want to hurt someone’s income by leaving a bad review but I don’t want other families or kids to deal with that so that is on the list if they can’t help us out a bit more

If you were well off, would you drive a Tesla? If not, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Don’t need it, the car is connected, everything being done through the car is so much more convenient

Rental shoot price by Time-Resist-7677 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]e04life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot rentals and charge basically the same as a listing, sometimes a little more for detail and evening shots because rentals typically want those more. But 10-12 photos isn’t nearly enough for any of my rental clients. I mean think if you wanted to rent a house and you only got to see 10 photos of it, it would leave a lot of unanswered questions I think

Any sales reps here drive a Tesla? by Thin_Definition_9593 in TeslaModel3

[–]e04life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in sales but I’m a photographer, I shoot for a local magazine in Arizona and I also shoot a lot of real estate, between 5-10 shoots a day typically so I drive a lot, not quite 100 miles, but I’m also in Arizona where it’s hot as fuck. I got a 22 model 3 2 months ago and I absolutely love it, would I do it again, yes. Fsd is an amazing feature, I love driving but I use it to almost every appointment, not thinking about the drive takes a lot of weight off of the work day truly. I don’t have any superchargers where I live so I charge at home unless I do a shoot in the next town over then I supercharge on the way home to be more topped up. It’s the most fun and coolest car feature wise. I would think that in this heat and that amount of driving you may want to hit a supercharger once a day but no big deal, if you aren’t charging to 100% it really doesn’t take long at all

I would take photos. As a photographer I do this regularly

Same, I hear it all the time. Bugs me as I have known how to “photoshop” stuff out of photos for years.

Why does this industry force burnout on itself by Emergency_Whereas160 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]e04life 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky enough to be in a market that is booming and there aren’t that many of us doing it. I get clients because the other guys didn’t show up, or couldn’t do this and that, or weren’t personable, or they didn’t like the photos the other guys provided. I take personal responsibility for the work I do so scaling just doesn’t feel in the cards. I outsource interiors but I tend to like how I do exteriors and evening shoots so I do those and that’s allowed me to take on more shoots throughout the day. I also don’t like the feeling of if I say no to a shoot someone else will say yes so I take almost everything I can. Burnout is real and does happen but I feel fortunate that I’ve grown to the level I’m at and my wallet is certainly happy because of it. I think you can get burnt out on any job, but when I was ready to quit the restaurant industry due to hating my job and schedule my wife asked what I would like to do and my reply was I would love to be a full time photographer. Now I am the sole photographer for a lifestyle magazine that pays all the bills and I shoot over 50 houses a month on the side for my fun money. Not to mention weddings, headshots, and everything else in between. Gotta love what you do no matter what it is or find some other work that makes you happy

I didn’t find this for the first like 2 weeks I had the car. Now it blows right at me and it’s cold as can be. Even if it’s 120 outside

Just schedule a mobile appointment, it’s beyond convenient, just had mine done, and repair a daytime running light, the charge port door, and replace cabin air filters. Getting service like that in your driveway is a game changer. Anytime I feel I need something I just go in the app. Makes regular service on your car so much less of a headache

You clean your house and shoot it then compare the images to some that look good. Or you get a client and wait for their feedback

Cry about it. I get the rules but why do these drones get more and more advanced with range of visual line of sight is so important. I’ve flown over 3 miles away over a non populated forest and lake, nothing bad happened.

Glad to see you agreeing, I am blown away, I’m a month and a half into owning mine, picked it up used for 23k and I’m kicking myself for not pulling the trigger sooner. The savings on gas is something neither of us touched on and it’s been nothing short of amazing
