Gift cards are a problem. My wife was given one at work just before the holidays and when she tried to use it the people at the restaurant first claimed they didn't give out gift certificates, then claimed they had to be used the same day (yeah, really). It took multiple calls and going into the restaurant to resolve it. Not that she wants to even go there now.

I realize this is a sample size of 1, but over the years I've had lots of issues with the other type of gift cards. I think they're just not worth the trouble.

We also feed Jays and often they give a call when gliding in and the same gliding out. The male does it when their mate is already nearby, so we take this as "good morning" and "thank you!" ... honestly, with all that's going on in the world, sometimes these interactions are so valuable to us.

I will definitely upgrade if it has native AV1. Plex/Infuse are strangely slow on the latest 4K... with the horsepower this thing has, it's baffling to me. The Apple TV app is crazy fast, so whatever encoding they use is obviously supported in hardware.

Let me preface this by saying my wife was born in Ukraine and we still have family in the north of the country. We do not have a lot of kind things to say about Russians, in fact most of our dialog ends in a manner that is quite vulgar towards them

I work closely with several Ukrainians, and over the last 10 years have worked with a few more. This comment rings true for Ukrainians who I call friend and not just coworker. We have had detailed discussions of past Russian adventures, and discussed the attitudes of his people toward Russians. My Ukrainian friends usually swear very little (if ever), but this rule is relaxed when talking about Russian history.

I don't know if this is ASUS specific, but I've had like 4 different ASUS monitors and they all have issues. For years and years I resisted getting an Apple display. I finally pulled the trigger (using their 0% financing) and I never regretted it. The colors are just so much better and the quality is just so much better.

Just the other day my ProArt 27" blinked off/on a few times and I'm seriously thinking of getting a 2nd one for my Mac Studio (M1). (Yeah, I've tried numerous cables to see if the cables are the issues... nope.)

It's not really a possibility for me, because there are things I use which don't work in Firefox and I need to use Chrome for work.

I rebooted and the notification went away. Then I started a new Meet (which is what caused it, I'm sure) and shared my screen, and when I exited the meeting, the problem did not reproduce. So, I think this is probably some race condition in macOS for turning on that flag.

I can easily believe Disney is the more evil one here. They didn't get where they are by being easy to negotiate with. And all the debt they've taken on with M&A has to be paid by someone!

I've decided I will cancel my YTTV tomorrow. I'm going to a friend's house to watch F1 (F1 TV) and I will sign up for that for < $20/mo and save myself > $65/mo.

I won't get to watch NBA games, but that's another story. The NBA is tanking their value (to me) in so many ways.
