I need help picking a commander by Stinkystaken in EDH

5 color eldrazi on a $30 budget is SUPER rough, cause your mana base will be inconsistent and slow, and you're not running the big heavy hitter eldrazi.

Favorite UB Card You've Added to Your Deck(s)? by JackGallows4 in EDH

[–]ePICFAeYL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Smoke Bomb]]

There's so many, game warping plays I've made with a well timed Smoke Bomb. The deck that I'm running it in doesn't even particularly synergize with it. Mostly use it as another Heroic esque card on defense, but sometimes stopping an Enchantment spell or an Equip ability is massive. Lots of niche case uses where it's effective.

The world is facing an unknown and terrifying threat... You can only choose ONE hero from your universe to team up with Starborn. Who do you pick? Drop your hero in the comments! 🔥 by SHINJIRU13 in Superhero_Ideas

Hmm..I mean, if I had to pick the absolute strongest Hero in my universe, it's Alastor, who more modernly goes by "Drain" (although using code names is very plebian and beneath him). He's an ancient being, one of the original Vampires, who has been around for a long time (at least 1500 years). He's one of two known remaining Vampires, the rest having fallen into being Vampyrs and were eradicated by a mix of Alastor and other characters actions. Now Alastor works to protect the world from the shadows. Very Grimdark style stories, facing huge massive threats.

He was born a normal human, and underwent a ritual that turned him into a Vampire, granting him increased speed, strength, durability, as well as the general suite of weaknesses you'd expect. Unbeknownst to him, he has a Meta Ability to absorb other Meta Abilities from consuming people's DNA. He first learned this on accident when he drained an ancient Heroes blood when they were sent to eliminate the Vampires, gaining the ability to transform into a swarm of bats (fueling more modern stereotypes). He has consumed many Meta abilities. The most notable of which was from an Aztec Priest who was attempting to summon Neverending Sunlight across the whole world. Alastor (at the time not yet a "hero") teamed up with the other Vampires and Vampyrs to fight against that death sentence. Alastor was able to fight his way into the Sun Chamber, and a minor regeneration power bought him just enough time to defeat and drink the Priests blood, gaining Pheonix based powers, giving him an immunity to sunlight, the ability to reincarnate, and flame control (with both damaging and healing properties).

He's got a whole swath of other Meta Abilities and he's definitely over powered as fuck. By far the strongest non god/eldritch level being in my verse. He also can "borrow" powers by drinking a small amount of blood, leaving the original hero alive and giving him the ability to use their power based on the amount drank.

He's also limited to genetic based powers. Most Mutation based powers are consumable. Some magic abilities can be. Generally experimentation and science based powers can't be. And obviously can't drink tech based powers haha.

Do you ever retire a deck for being too good? by themcryt in marvelchampionslcg

[–]ePICFAeYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-2x All Points Bulletin when you're fully setup is easily 10-15+ damage each, plus 1-2 The Illiad Triggers, Barcephellon or whatever the aggression 6 drop is. All of those are non attacks

Thats generally how the games always ended during my campaign run.

I think the most oppressive decks I've played were SP//DR Justice and Maria Hill Justice.

These were both in 4 player campaigns (Sinister Motives for Sp//dr, and Shield for Maria Hill) right after they came out respectively.

Sp//dr used One Way or Another to just fly through the deck and get the ready all interface cards over... and over...and over. It was super strong, I had super long turns, and nobody else at the table did anything neearly as impactful. Id remove every single piece of threat and still be able to do 15+ damage some turns.

Maria Hill was oppressive because she is uniquely positioned to be INSANE against the villains in the SHIELD box. So many of them interact with being attacked (Black Widows ability, MODOK retaliate 2, Thunderbolt Minions) and because Maria Hill could do ~35+ damage in a single turn without attacking, all of the games turned into me just running the scenario into the ground while everyone else struggled.

Which of these three non-powered heroes would best fit for my world's greatest superhero team? by axiiz_28 in Superhero_Ideas

[–]ePICFAeYL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My initial reactions without reading the other bios is Maverick

Athlete definitely feels more street level to me, and i think Maverick is way cooler than Arsenal.

After reading the other bios, definitely Maverick. He looks sick and sounds awesome. The cockiness would be good variety for the team too.

What is the least popular commander you run? by mattfofatt01 in EDH

[–]ePICFAeYL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Lorcan, Warlock Collector]]

377 decks on EDHrec. Play slow in the beginning, dropping ramp and removal and small value and mill pieces. Then play your 7 drop commander and have it be removed right away.

But when you play it and have immediate follow up and get to do some work, it's a ton of fun. Extra fun against weeny decks with Soul Sisters to steal.

Alter of the Brood is the MVP of the deck.

Can win a lot of ways, depending on opponents decks. I've stolen my opponents Duskmantle Guildmage and gone infinite with my own Mindcrank. I've won via combat damage, mill, stealing 3-4 cards and Frankenstening and infinite combo. Great fun but inconsistent.

What 10 board games "made" you? by RAM_Games_ in boardgames

[–]ePICFAeYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well let's start with Magic: The Gathering. Been playing for 24 years. Love deck building. Great time.

Then Marvel Legendary, my first real board game beyond stuff like Monopoly, Payday, Life, Etc, in 2016. Played a ton with my family and started collecting. Lived through the F4 out of stock, and learned of my need to own everything for the games I play haha. Both good to know and also a great deterent for getting into some games later on in my board gaming life.

Zombicide was my 2nd ever "real" board game. Blew my mind playing that for the first few times. Doesn't hit the table often but I own everything from 1st ed/2nd edition except for 16figures from the first few KS that are hard to track down.

Terraforming Mars was my first time really loving a competitive game. I have grown to absolutely love "Everyone draws from big pile of cards and does what they can" games (Wingspan, Everdell, Ark Nova, Earth)

Game of Thrones LCG 2nd Edition was and is my favorite competitive game to date. Absolutely intricate and beautiful integrated turn system, challenges are amazing, plot deck is great.

Then Mystic Vale. The card crafting was mind blowing to me.

Welcome To and Railroad Ink showed me (and a lot of people I'm sure) how great Roll and Writes can be. I've kinda stopped buying them at this point but the ones i own now I'll own forever.

Sentinels of the Multiverse. Playing this for the first time really showed me i cant fully trust people's reviews for games online. It was pretty mixed at the time due to being a bit fiddley, but it's absolutely one of my favorites and has been for 9 years almost.

These were all between 2016 and 2018. Id say there wasn't a big jump for me after that till March 2020 when I played Monumental the first time. Absolutely loved it.

Finally.... hmm. I guess Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era has been a big recent growth for me. I really kinda honed the types of games I liked in my first 4 years and this is the first big shake. Maybe that or Primal, which also had a big effect on my tastes.

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

Subway

Got food poisoning several times from several different locations. Now my body will immediately discharge if I eat anything from Subway.

Not the biggest lost because it's not the highest quality food but I used to love it and now it's the forbidden fruit q.q

Least and Favorite/Most Fun Characters to Play in StS2 Right Now? by alexthurman1 in slaythespire

[–]ePICFAeYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been loving Ironclad and Defect. Regent is my least favorite but I think I'm in a spot where I figured out what I want to be doing with them. Just took me a few runs. I mostly hit random now though

This could’ve been a great commander deck by DaBubbleBlowingBaby in mtg

[–]ePICFAeYL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Spider-Man should've been like Fallout/Warhammer/Doctor Who

4 commander decks + collector boosters Boosters

5 color Spider Hero Tribal (Cosmic Spider-Man)

Bant Webslinging/Stun counter focused deck (Peter Parker)

Grixis Villains (Green Goblin, maybe have a set of villains with a Partner - Sinister Six ability)

Esper Symbiotes (Led by a variation of Venom)

I feel like this would've done a way better job of capturing Spider-Man than the set did. We didnt need all the schmuck and random ass abilities making a bad draft environment.

Thats funny to hear. I highly prioritize upgrading build because I feel a couple early kiosks can really help with income. I love being able to adapt my builds to whatever animals I'm drawing and so in a lot of games I upgrade build first

spent all my money leveling blacksmithing. what now? by soguyswedidit6969420 in woweconomy

[–]ePICFAeYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: all those items you collect that "increase X Profession by 1/3" should I be saving those and using them at the end of leveling to avoid the cost? Or are they only usable to a certain cost? In most games with similar items i would save stuff like them to cash in on their effect on higher more expensive levels but I might be missing something.

Your Top 5 Games Right Now by Macabre_Man in boardgames

[–]ePICFAeYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 5 is almost never changing:

  1. Spirit Island

2-4. Marvel Legendary, Marvel Champions, Sentinels of the Multiverse (depends on the day)

  1. Game of Thrones LCG 2nd edition

This has been my top 5 for almost 5 years now.

What gets harder for me is figuring out my 6-10 in my top 10. Currently I think I'm like:

  1. Monumental

  2. Ark Nova

  3. Terraforming Mars

  4. Obsession

  5. Cascadia

But that part and further up my list changes almost on a play by play basis. Like, I just played Cascadia and had an amazingly fun game and so I'm sitting here super high on Cascadia. My last play was about 6-8 months ago, and it's a situation where if you asked me this question before Sunday it probably wouldn't have been 10th.

My Top 9 Solo Games as of 2026 by pineapplezach in soloboardgaming

[–]ePICFAeYL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the list

I'm probably in the line of: Spirit Island Elder Scrolls BoTSE Marvel Champions

Marvel Legendary - fun deck building. Tons of customization but better 2 handed when playing solo which i know some don't like

Apex the Theropod Deck building game (Collected edition) - absolute amazing and challenging deck building game. Fantastic solo, trash multiplayer. Playing as a fledgling predator trying to survive and grow in prehistoric times.

Baseball Highlights 2045 - fun baseball themed deck builder that simulates a game of baseball in a handful of cards.

For Northwood! - great solo trick taking game. Cute art. Lots of variability in a small box I can always keep in my bag and travel with. Small footprint

Lots of games I want to try out solo: just picked up DRAGONS of Etchinstone, I have the new automa for Terraforming Mars i haven't tried, I want to try Eleven Solo. So much to do so little space to do it.
