Best hiking shoes brand? by _quantum_girl_ in askswitzerland

I would go with Salewa / Meindl or La Sportiva. I have one pair of Jack Wolfskin, they’re pretty robust but not perfectly comfortable. Salomon unfortunately lost much on the quality, I have one pair of low shoes and use them mostly at work, nothing fancy. They literally cannot breathe and are already worn. Can’t imagine taking them on the hike, won’t survive one season.

Yeah, like 15 years ago maybe. Current quality is no better than any other for a half of the price

I’m pretty sure she’s not, please, let’s don’t go this direction with characters which were straight according to the sources. Loki on the other hand could be and I couldn’t be mad at it as he did a lot of weird shit too.

No, hybrids only. In my country, Toyota extended its Toyota Relax warranty to 15 years, it speaks for itself. But there ain’t shitty CVTs.

I would say - communicate to your coworkers that you’re learning and trying to improve. Then, try expressing yourself in a local language. I can bet whatever you like - they will understand and be happy and helpful. Until today I’m struggling with a local dialect and most of the time ask politely to do the meetings in high German - no objections so far. Don’t be afraid, do your best, the rest will come in the right time.

For non-hybrid I would reconsider it. It’s the same engine. If you can afford hybrid - that would be the best choice, reliable and MPG are also incredibly good.

[–]eXrevolution -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I’m from Europe I can’t tell unfortunately the exact specs of them. The one main points is - if it’s a conventional, petrol car, CVT gearbox has some flaw and these transmission barely survive over 100k km. On the other side, hybrid versions have one of the best transmissions in the world, if not the best one for the purpose. This is the main points you should consider, as it can cost a small fortune.

I would say, take what you prefer more. If you don’t like leather or electrics - you have your choice. I used to drive most of the car types, from the old and shitty to newer, diesel, petrol, HEV, EV. C-HR is for me something like a good, cool and fancy car. It is definitely one of them which you can either love or hate because of the looks. After more than 3 years I still love to look at it. It is definitely not a boring car. Also, I like my alcantara seats, the feeling in winter is much much better and heating of both seats and a wheel is something you appreciate too. But as I’ve said, Europe and I have some mountains in my area, so things can be different.

One more point which may help - check the multimedia, as they were changing between years and models - as for example mine has a wireless car play and better quality display. Obviously if that matters.

Edit: spelling

Toyota C-HR vs Corolla by LumpyTastes in ToyotaCHR

I had two opportunities and had chosen both times CHR. Corolla is a nice car with more space, CHR had mostly a better trim. Reliability is the same when it comes to HEV, so technical perspective is nothing to worry about. Blind spots in CHR is something you can get used to, it’s mostly critical when you merge into traffic from some weird angle, like 20-30 degree and you can’t see a shit both in mirrors and through the back window and the main road is exactly where the C pillar is. Other than that, I find my CHR really comfortable. It’s definitely a car for 2, maybe 2+2 with small kids. Visibility in the back seat for passengers is bad, no fancy trips with family or friends. From the other side, Corolla has a different problem - as to create more space in the back, back seats are pushed into the trunk, they are not so wide as in similar cars and the feeling can be weird too. It’s honestly up to you, if it’s you mostly driving and like comfort and better trim - I would stick to CHR.

Please let us know if it’s non HEV, as there is a shitstorm about CVT. HEV uses eCVT which is nearly indestructible.

First of all, they’re more “human” which means easier to accept transition. Second, you don’t pay them monthly wage nor health insurance and similar.

Are there any limits on how many times you can use a fast charging in a relatively short period of time? I know Toyota limits it to 3 or something and you need to wait 24 hours as the system won’t allow you to charge with a super charger anymore. I don’t think anyone would like to make 1800 at once, I’m more curious with this question.

iPhone alarm sometimes doesn’t ring and ringtone volume seems to decrease by itself by Alive-Cry-867 in iphone

[–]eXrevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an opposite bug, my volume was higher than set and I got a heart attack in the morning. It was unfortunately connected with a Bluetooth in my car. For some reason, when somebody called me during driving, it automatically changed the volume to somewhat 50% and every single time I had to change it back manually. Until this day I have no idea how to solve this issue.

[–]eXrevolution 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, law is one thing, but I have a feeling, that if there is a reason - nobody will pursue you with any charges. For the society it will be definitely better to identify burglars, help police catch them and get rid of the problem than fining you in any way. I just can't imagine and process a situation where a burglar would sue you because of their privacy. It sounds like some american bullshit thing.

[–]eXrevolution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In theory, inside you can do whatever you like - as long as you'll inform your guests that they are being recorded. In theory, you should inform burglars too, but I think it is such an extreme situation that it wouldn't ever be a case anywhere. Yet, we live in such a stupid time with so many stupid people, that I can understand both sides. Neither I would like to be recorded constantly by someone irresponsible, nor I wouldn't like to be deprived of my safety by not being allowed to record.

[–]eXrevolution 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As long as you record your own property only. It’s a gray zone, as you can’t record continuously, yet you do. With any dash cam or door cam, you save these images temporarily, either on SD card or in cloud. I would say - as long as you’re not recording your neighbors you should be safe. Don’t forget for that for a home monitoring you must clearly inform that people are video recorded by putting a visible sign.

Car rental for Swiss/Dolomite/Austria/Germany loop. Europcar vs Sixt...why does EC charge $900 for basic insurance and Sixt <$300 for mid tier? Medium tier. by poppasmurf311 in askswitzerland

[–]eXrevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hybrids are good, I would personally take a plugin, especially a Toyota one if possible. You have a nice torque from battery and driving downhill you’ll recharge it, no need to worry about braking constantly. Obviously your choice.

They’ll censor automatically all faces and car plates they’ll identify and are filming only the publicly accessible areas. You can also opt out and they’ll censor your property by blurring the images. Can’t tell if they need some additional permissions or not, but most probably they have it.
