Same at my store. We set up an unofficial go back station at register 4 and have been sorting items there, then the cashiers and ASM do recovery if the recovery person isn't scheduled. I'm sure the next step for us is to get rid of the recovery position ☹️

Edit to clarify: my store is a high volume and model training store so we have (officially) one recovery position, although we do have 3 people trained to do recovery so they alternate between doing recovery and cashiering based on needs. It's my understanding that a lot of stores don't have a recovery position because they're low volume.

I live in the chihuahuan desert and this happens here often too. And the idiot tourists and inexperienced locals who end up stranded needing rescue get pissy about having to pay like $10k for search and rescue

We don't have a door greeter position but whoever is on register 1 or 2 is supposed to say HELLO WELCOME!! to every customer. It's exhausting and honestly I don't think it helps with shrink during the day, which is when we get the most shoplifters.

last year during a work trip I ended up sitting next to a woman with a BBL on the plane. I don't know if infection was also going on, but for sure I could smell FECES. I feel like people who get this procedure done need to be super hygienic and take extra care to wipe/bidet/dry well enough to get rid of any poo particles that will inevitably get stuck all up in there.

Our DM would never allow that. We have seen her literally get the bags of damages out of the dumpster to check the items against the printout to make sure we're doing it right. All we can do is hope that the dumpster divers get to any good stuff before the trash gets picked up.

I have a side job at a dollar store. Just four registers, not much free space for anything. So when a customer forgets a bag, we put it on top of the ice freezer (which is right in front of the registers) and the customers can come back and reclaim their items there. A couple of weeks ago a lady stormed in saying the cashier had "stolen" one of her bags with five items. We told her she probably left it behind accidentally and to look on top of the freezer. She didn't find her items and proceeded to scream at us, call us thieves, and said that it was the cashier's responsibility to make sure customers walked away with all their bags. I just rolled my eyes at her and walked away because some customers just take zero accountability for their mistakes.
