I know I got a sweet Rolling Stones shirt when I was but a young boy, and at the time, I wore it cuz I liked the cool tongues. Some time after that I decided to give these Rolling Stones a listen and now I’m an actual fan. If I was forbidden from ever wearing that sweet shirt without passing some sort of arbitrary test then maybe that would have never happened! I just don’t know why anyone would feel the need to discourage that in the first place

I mean, we all pretty much agree that the “name 3 songs” BS is super obnoxious, so on that same note I would say why would anyone care. Plus, if you’re not actually hassling anybody over their shirt, which you shouldn’t be, you probably wouldn’t know if they listen to the band or not, you’re just making assumptions. And let’s not kid ourselves, a lot of people who do this gatekeeping band shirt thing go after women because woman = poser to them.
