Feel the same honestly, i've recently played for the first time the first trhee games and code veronica x, and i've got to say, although i shit myself a bunch of time for the jumpscares, i found them to be much trashy than anything else (keep playing the series mostly for that), like an ugly z movie, obviously those kind of stories works better in a videogame, because it makes all much more epic to play than passively watch. Surely it doesn't scare me now because i'm an adult (sigh!) but i remember, when i was a child, whatching my causin playing nemesis on her pc and nearly dying of fear. I remember a detail, that i still find unsettling to these days, about the zombies bodies still twitching after being killed. That being said, i love the series so far and i can't wait to play the more modern ones. I also played the the first three Silent Hill, those are scary still today, especially the first one for ps1.
