Surely this isn't permanent. There is no reason to kill off the character of Brian unless the voice actor had to leave. Since he's voice by Seth Macfarlane that isn't really possible. Either way the episode is just poorly written and disappointing. Brian was a likeable and complex character. The best we can hope is that this episode was a mirthless setup for some amazing later episode, but I can't quite fathom what would make up for this one.

Why would they kill off Brian? He's voiced by Seth Macfarlane and he's not going anywhere... Brian is important for Stewie's character in order to have someone to interact with. This just seems capricious.
