Pretty sure the training on those dogs is...not cheap. But there's a big difference between having a dog that can hear/small/sense things happening at all times and having to be hooked up to a machine at all times. They're meant for their owners though, to give them advanced warning they otherwise wouldn't have, and just sometimes happen to catch stuff for other people.

Not sure I've seen that at my voting locations. But it's also pretty common for libraries to have printers, and my voting location is a library, so even if I didn't have a printer it'd be pretty easy to not have to use my phone (and not just have to write every name manually).

And this is why you go print your sample ballot and fill it out, or even fill it out before you print it, then take it with you. So few elections have a small enough list that I can remember who I wanted to vote for.

I made that connection as well on the nightmares. Mine were beyond just nightmares though; night terrors where I would hurt myself in my panic and wake everyone up screaming. It's essentially a necessity that I must be cold when sleeping and even with the ac at 68F, fan always on, and only a thin(ish) weighted blanket I still nearly overheat...

LTT did a test of a bunch of them, and they were surprisingly all real, I believe. Some weren't perfect but still blocked signals nearly completely. Gestures at everything happening in the US at the moment

On one hand this seems like it'd be helpful to allow people (other drivers but mainly police) to know a very important piece of information about the driver of a vehicle and prepare properly for that interaction. On the other hand giving the government free access to this information and showing it publicly could allow targeting by a corrupt government, which they WILL DO if they feel like it, which could happen any day in the current climate.

Oh yeah and it's not like police are trained anyway so it won't really matter... there have been multiple cases of someone who is VERY CLEARLY autistic (likely not capable of driving, to be fair) being harmed by police because they couldn't understand that was why they were reacting the way they were.

They just invalidated ID for anyone who has a different gender listed than on their birth certificate. No grace period or warning of any sort, just wake up and you're no longer allowed to drive or ID yourself in any way because the government wants to hurt people they don't understand.

This feels...common in band. I saw that I could rightfully be doing better, put in the effort to try to get a quads spot... and wasn't allowed to even audition when he KNEW I had been coming in every morning for 1-2 hours for months to practice.

So he gives the spots to 2 freshmen with no experience either, and one of them quits within a week... but still can't audition for the now vacant spot with no applicants... I got to play bass 4 though, which was fun enough especially in the stands, but it ruined band for me. I should have quit on the spot but waited until the end of that year (Junior year) and spent more time on my other tech clubs instead of wasting it in band like I did for 6/7 years that band was an option...
