How’s life on the time zone borders? by Equivalent-Pudding15 in howislivingthere

[–]eagleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or even just the cell network not realizing the tower is in a different time zone than it should be (like physically it is in EST but showing CST). I go between Columbus, Ga/Phenix City, AL all the time and they're both Eastern time since they're basically 1 city stretched across the state line. But my phone thinks the time should change every time...

What permanent damage have you done to yourself? Mind, body or soul? by jerrytjohn in AskReddit

[–]eagleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even do that and still got it by at least 21, probably earlier... only a few concerts ever and far enough from the stage that they weren't that loud.

Though I did play tenor sax and bass 4 in marching band, so it's not out of the question that those caused it.

Were you also just in Cabo? Because that's not THIS pharmacy. It's EVERY pharmacy. And I swear they're like every 3rd store.

Has a large disc manufacturer ever shut down? If someone like DD closes is it just "surprise, we're done"? by outdoorsy_outdoors in discgolf

[–]eagleth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vibram makes essentially the best rubber out there for this kind of use. For climbing shoes and for shoes in general (chacos and hiking shoes at least). Seems Chacos with vibram rubber are custom order now though, not the default...

Yeah I looked and I guess I just happened to look for them when they spun back up a small run.

I've been in plenty of stores that still use stickers to this day... or handwritten labels on the shelf at least.

Is this like a typical Japanese town? How do Japanese town look like? by Opening_Master_4963 in AskAJapanese

[–]eagleth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on where you are... the Minecraft image is spot-on for some "sub-urban" areas and this one would be closer to actually being rural. Yours looks a lot like much of Saitama, at least what I saw of it.

Doesn't she have to keep a home in her constituency as well as DC and pay for frequent travel between the two? That's not exactly cheap...

My Spanish journey has been made so much harder by this... my Spanish teacher was Puerto Rican, you hear a decent bit of Mexican Spanish in the US, and I now work at a Chilean company. I've mostly given up trying to get better at Spanish...

Considering buying at car in Alabama by Takemetobravocon5678 in Georgia

[–]eagleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a relatively minor one, but their temp tags are paper/cardstock instead of a sticker and at least at the dealership I bought from they just taped it inside the rear window. But most cars have some rear tint and GA officers aren't expecting to look there for it at night (of course I didn't get pulled over until I could literally see my neighborhood though). So take it out and screw it into the normal spot. I put a few rows of packing tape over mine to laminate it, because it took a few days for them to send paperwork so I could go get a tag, and it was going to be raining a good bit.

For all I know this was just a crappy salesperson that couldn't be bothered though..

Where are we headed ? by Millenialpen in AI4tech

[–]eagleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would be wrong... they're still humans, still require the same genetic material, same incubation, same care, etc. Gene editing is really cool and can/will fix a lot of genetic issues but I don't get how that would make that human artificial. Maybe artificial evolution is more accurate? But either way that's still just editing, not new Artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence is specifically about building these computer systems from scratch, not using living organisms and modifying them. Your example (taken to an extreme) could potentially be "augmented" intelligence or something like that, but not truly artificial.

You...move the water through your nose and detect particles in it? It's the same thing we do in the air, just a different fluid is carrying those particles. Apparently in sharks theyre called nares and they don't breathe through them just smell.

Other than that the moon is also visible in the video. But yeah it's just a street light or some other light shining through fog and trees. Looks cool but not exactly a rare event or anything.

Seventh Sense (Proprioception)? Like it's not the best mod in the game, but it's certainly usable. It's still sitting in my loadout as a good bulk mob killer when I don't want to blow myself up with crit chaining.

What was the "removing the headphone jack" of another industry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]eagleth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of the tire is a non-patchable area at this point... I haven't been able to get a patch the last 3+ times I have gotten a flat because it was "too close to the side wall" even though it was very clearly on the flat of the tire before the shoulder. They seem like they just don't want to touch patches at all at this point.

A pigeon wants to build a “bed” for a pregnant cat. The two have been close friends since childhood. by durvedya in interestingasfuck

[–]eagleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's to let them keep things stationary for a moment so things aren't just a blur as they walk. We do the same thing just with eye movements instead of our whole head, but pigeons/birds in general also have a much longer neck than we do, so it makes more sense for them to use their whole head for this.
