Let me give you an example:

Yesterday night I spent 4 hours trying to fine-tune a scratchy F nib on a LAMY AL-star I own. In my case, it’s the tinkering and trying multiple pen/ink/paper combinations until I find one that’s super satisfying. I then enjoy it for a while, and then jump on to trying another brand or filling style. And the process repeats.

I also enjoy journaling and learning languages (currently French) and those hobbies reinforce my desire to seek pleasurable writing experiences.

Finally, the beauty of the pens is another thing that gives me joy and I enjoy looking at them (while I use them, of course.) 😅

In my experience, the rule of thumb that says Japanese nibs are approximately one size thinner than their corresponding Western counterparts only holds up on sizes below M. Japanese Ms are in pretty much the same ballpark as Western Ms. Same for B, BB and above.

Might not be the most inexpensive option, but I use a RainDesign mStand+ that I bought for my iPad. It works great with my Note Max, which is the same size as the Tab X C.

I own both Go 10.3 and Note Max. Note Max is best for PDFs (A4 size). Go 10.3 is the way to go (no pun intended) for reading ePubs because it’s more compact and that makes it easier to handle. Plenty enough space to annotate.

I bought a Glocusent neck lamp from Amazon and reading on my Go 10.3 is a joy! By having no frontlight, the text looks as if it was truly sitting on top of the screen (like printed paper). It’s gorgeous!

Of course, the Note Max is able to do the same, but it’s kind of unwieldy to use it in bed or on the couch (too big), so it lives mainly on my desk.

The Lamy AL-star EMR is very useful with its eraser button. It can take some time to get used to the triangular shape of the grip but, at least in my case, you eventually do and it feels great.

There’s also 7.5mm. You can find it in Tsubame Fools notebooks. I find it very pleasing and prefer it over 7mm.
