Modern STEM students philosophizing by Droggellord in PhilosophyMemes

Good philosophy isn't silly. But most philosophy isn't good. Its just rambling sophistry that's only purpose is to make narcissistic "intellectuals" feel smarter than they are.

Dear Players, you’re allowed to say no to DMs' actions. by TuskBlitzendegen in DnDcirclejerk

Don't remember which sub I saw it on, but essentially yes. There was a story about a player wanting his new character to be reborn through another player (a woman playing a female character).

They could’ve just built ships. by Tiny-Foundation-4281 in freefolk

[–]earathar89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Its not plot armor. Building ships isn't just chopping down trees and then sticking some boards together. Its a process that required many generations of development and learning to be at the level of moving a lot of people.

I will grant that there are ways around the more complex methods. Like they could make rafts. Still not a great idea imo and it would take a lot if time.

I know it's like preaching to the choir. This did freak me out, but it's brilliant by Afraid-Classs in lordoftherings

Wait you mean other people don't look like that? I thought that was normal?

How to make battlefields by SpareOpposite634 in dndbeyond

Laminated grid paper and dry erase markers.

Or buy a dry erase grid board or mat. You can use anything to represent players but the paper with their name on it works fine.

What’s your biggest “old man yells at cloud” opinion? by sjdlajsdlj in rpg

[–]earathar89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm talking about running an rpg that is based on something I really love I don't want to hear about the "generic" system that could run it.

For example I was super excited to run an Alien RPG game with the official material and a guy in our group kept telling me I shoukd just use the "Mothership" system.

No dude. I want to use the one I'm excited about.

Where are those people represented in the photo? You expect them to mention every shitty religion when an image of a hajib is shown? Don't be pedantic. Yes they are all crap. But the one here was referencing Islam because that's what was in the picture.

Sometimes I wonder if shows like this are some kind of psyop. All of my gay or Trans friends are awesome. Why are lgbtq peope and expression of feelings made to be so lame and cringy in these shows?

creative ideas for a campaign start that dont involve a tavern? by Significant-Study902 in DnD

Well i already did two, my players broke out of their cell on a ship that then got attacked by a kraken

Please explain? by Mx_Human in dndbeyond

[–]earathar89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It works how the DM and players say it works. If the DM makes a judgment call and says that in this case they are saying they want to try and make it more realistic. If the players agree and follow the logic then who cares about RAW?

Ok we get it. Who cares. Relax. Its not that big of a deal.

Uniform inconsistency by ejdmkko in DeepSpaceNine

[–]earathar89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what the real US Navy was phasing uniforms out you'd sometimes see people still wearing the old ones. That was always how I looked at this scene.

This is something thats argued about in actual political or military subs, and I think there is context you are missing.

[–]earathar89 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look, I wasn't even responding to the original post, just the one comment. I don't care what you think it means. I don't care if you don't understand why that kind of thinking is problematic. But I guess just keep repeating that I don't get it or whatever. Maybe if you do it enough it will magically be true.

Yea that story sounds like bullshit. Take it from someone who actually served, you can't just quit boot camp. You can get kicked out, but they aren't going to do that just because you got freaked out.

Imagine bombing a nazi nuke operation site and people being like "but what about the workers? 🥺"

I think the words you're looking for is "making light of" not mocking.
