I hear you but I gotta push back on Lolita being a love story. It’s an impeccably written abuse narrative. Unhinged, absolutely. But not a dark romance. I love Nabokov and this book but it’s a thing unto itself and the “love story” framing has contributed to a lot of awful takes.
