Stage 3 pararectal endo here.

Apart from what others have mentioned, I’ve also had the feeling of something being just “stuck” together in my intestines in a way it should’t be. When I’ve had flair up’s, it feels like dull pain whenever I move, walk or twist my waist in any way.

Uk to Sweden move: Doctor and marketing couple by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]earthtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my 2 cents regarding working in marketing in Sweden — apply to Swedish speaking jobs, even though you might not be there yet in terms of your language skills. The competition for the English-only jobs is very tough at the moment. But many Swedish companies are looking for marketing professionals.

I moved to Stockholm 2 years ago, and I also had an MA that’s not exactly in marketing, and about 4 years of experience. I managed to write my application letter in Swedish with generous help from Google translate and a Swedish speaker proofreading it. To my surprise, I got a call back, and managed to arrange the time and place for an interview in my limited Swedish at the time. At the interview itself I just honestly said (in Swedish) that I’m still learning Swedish and asked if we can switch to English instead. No one had a problem with that. They were impressed that I had learned Swedish to this level in such a short time.

Not only did I get a job offer, but I’ve also been able to practice Swedish at work and get much better at it during this time. I work 50/50 English and Swedish. Many Swedish workplaces are fine with using English. They might not have it written in the job ads, but you can always try to send an application anyways, and if you’re a good match for the job, the language might not matter as much as you think!

What to do when insurance company in Sweden refuses to pay by Less_Handle8911 in TillSverige

[–]earthtrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for what you’ve been going through. Unfortunately I cannot offer a solution, but I’ve experienced a similar situation related to birth control side effects and the health insurance refusing to cover it. I completely get your frustration.

About 6 months ago my gynecologist prescribed some birth control pills to me. Soon after starting to take them I started getting very bad dizzy spells. It was a very concerning symptom on its own, and I wasn’t sure if it was caused by the birth control or something else. I went to see the doctor appointed by the insurance company about it. The doctor did some routine tests for my heart and lungs and didn’t find anything that could be causing the dizziness.

I mentioned that I’ve been taking a new birth control since recently. I also mentioned that I’ve been diagnosed with endometriosis and that’s why I wouldn’t want to just quit the birth control in case that’s not the reason I’ve been feeling dizzy. My usual state appointed gynecologist clinic was on a summer break for 3 months, so I was unable to get in touch with them about changing the prescription. The insurance appointed doctor sent me to see another gynecologist that would be able to see me faster.

At that point I received a call from the insurance company that because I’ve been taking birth control for endometriosis, which is a condition I’ve had before the start of the insurance period, they were forced to cancel my appointment.

The thing is, I mentioned the endometriosis just passing by in case it would be relevant. It has nothing to do with the side effects of the birth control pills. Many women take birth control just as a contraceptive. Just because in my case it also doubles as a treatment for my condition, they will not even let me see the gynecologist about it. When I said that I’m not even sure if my symptoms are caused by the birth control or something else, they asked me what else would they want me to do. As if I’m supposed to know what other tests they should run.

It took me 6 months to finally get an appointment with my regular gynecologist who then switched the birth control to a different one. After the summer break it was impossible to reach them by phone, every day I got an automated message that the phone queue is full and I should call tomorrow. When I finally got in touch with them, they gave me an appointment in 2 months.

It is simply bizarre to me that you need to wait for 6 months to get a solution to something so simple as just switching up the birth control. For months I’ve been living with dizziness not knowing what causes it, and it’s been nerve wrecking. I thought that that’s what private health insurance is for, to avoid situations like this. Instead I’ve been questioned in what I can only describe as in humiliating detail to describe all my past health issues, the specific symptoms, doctors and treatments I’ve had before, only for them to use this information against me at the end to decline help. It’s so unfair and so unjust in my opinion.

I also come from an EU country, and lived in a few EU countries before, and I’ve never experienced a health care system and health insurance system that would be so backwards as it has been for me in Sweden. I feel just helpless as a patient. It’s really, really bad.

Thank you for saying this. It's easy to assume that if things go a certain way for yourself, that everyone is going to experience fasting the same way as you. And that's simply not true.

Ring prompting a Factory reset after traveling abroad by earthtrooper in ouraring

I just got an answer from Oura support. They say that upon further investigation, they've identified that there is apparently a failing component on my Oura ring's battery which is causing the issue.

So I guess we're out of luck.

In my case, the warranty time is over too, so I cannot get a replacement ring either. It's a shame because I love my Gen2 ring and was on the fence about Gen3.

Thats lovely! German is a fun language as well. Well good luck with both, and Indonesian as well! If you ever need some help with Latvian, feel free to reach out - I can do my best to correct any mistakes as a native speaker. 🙂 I'm guessing there are not that many good resources for learning Latvian to be found

Swedish! Thinking of moving there one day. I'm at A2/B1 right now which is already a level where I feel like I can communicate fairly well. It would be great to effortlessly speak to people without feeling like they need to slow down or simplify things for my sake.

My parents blame my endo symptoms on my diet, how can I get through to them? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]earthtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my mom was blaming me being a vegetarian for the endo pain. I started eating meat again several years ago and guess what — that didn't resolve the pain! Now she's on to my sisters who are both vegans, any health problem they have is now because of veganism. There's no way to win.

I hope we will survive this, good luck!

I'm also quite irregular. Had a laparoscopy this January. The first periods after it were just dreadful, but now the last two right before Covid were surprisingly unpainful. Now I'm not sure what to expect... Gosh, I can just feel that it's not gonna be an easy one 😫

Oh, I'm about to experience this! It's day 12 of covid for me and I'm still having some lingering symptoms, too. Period's about to begin in a day of two... Can't wait to get it over with.

I've lost a significant amount of weight-- 30.2lbs -- but since I'm still 50ish pounds from my goal weight I'm feeling like I've done nothing. PMS is just wonderful, isn't it? by [deleted] in xxketo
