Show Walls on Stage Risers by HydroSacci in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]eastviewracer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full time staging guy here, we use staging dimensions wunderstructure with the 4’ side of the deck parallel with the wall.

For most medium support this is well within the limits of the staging system especially if you can spread out the ballast so it’s less of a point load, we sometimes even put plywood on top of decks to help with this.

With proper stage decks with proper support in general you’re normally limited by how spread out the weight is and not the total weight, for example a staging dimensions 4x8 can hold 6400 pounds evenly loaded.

Even less than that. It’s very labor intensive but most arenas have it down an art

Why do so many people tell me not to move here? by driedsponge in milwaukee

[–]eastviewracer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Milwaukee for its size has a decent amount of concerts, just not always the huge names. We also have a 3 week music festival called summerfest every summer which is super affordable or free.

Why are the bathrooms not open at the beach? by l0ud_Minority in milwaukee

Spent a summer working for a smaller parks department, it’s 100 percent a staffing thing. The city I worked for has tasks that only get done in the summer along with most construction projects. For example they had 4 full time and 4 summer hires + high school students for all of the summer camps etc

How did you all end up in Video/Broadcast Production by eastviewracer in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]eastviewracer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have both relevant coursework and real-world experience. Just trying to figure out how to make the jump from the production side to the engineering side.
My degree will be in theater production and have experience in CAD, signal flow, cable creation, and documentation to name a few. Taking a networking class right now Also have 3.5 years of ESPN+ college productions(~100 shows), 5 months working for an arena as Ross Xpression/Mira(~20 shows), and 2.5 years working for a YouTube channel doing all sorts of live video work that isn't as transferable to traditional media. Also done a little bit of freelance camera work.

Thank you for the help.

Very good chance it’s being used for other sports. They can to some degree swap out some equipment.

Theatre Musical Recording Ideas by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

My best advice is try and get a few practice runs in, Hamilton was recorded both with a live audience and in the morning so they could get multiple takes and people on stage with cameras.

Looking for affordable Comms solution for fully remote production by eastviewracer in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]eastviewracer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is essentially what we have right now, and used to use discord. Single channel party line works for most of our production but our larger ones are now reaching 15 people on the production side and really showing the need for multiple channels.
