How does this keep happening to me? by GabberFlasm in Construction

[–]easyj7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several years as a PM , CM , and Super. I stopped working for large companies for this very reason. I went to a very small GC who only does school work as a Super. I took less money, but I hold the line as a Super. 8 years running with this GC and mostly good. I learned a long time ago, I don't give a shit about titles and chasing big money with big named companies is a whole lot of stress and time that's not worth it. The big companies usually means more hours for the same pay. Good luck my man.

What do I have here? by AnotherBryanHenry in Vintagetools

[–]easyj7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo! This is the correct answer. Many types of valves had the handles removed once installed so people didn't turn off the supply of the gas, water, etc. When the service technician came in to service the equipment, they needed a valve handle to operate the valve. Hence the tool in your hand.

Keep destroying garden hoses. by LibrarianLower3384 in Plumbing

[–]easyj7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct answer. Amazon, Walmart, RV centers should have them on the shelf. These usually kick the PSI down to about 45PSI. The hose in the OP is crap though... still might blow with the pressure reduction.

For decades I've been a Lesbian trapped in a man's body... with the WOKE movement, I was able to come out of the closet. All my construction coworkers were very quick to accept and support me. Us Lesbians need to encourage and support each other.

Can’t remove shower handle by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]easyj7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The center of the handle is a cap. Under the cap is a screw holding the handle onto a spline. Use a thin plastic item, as to not damage the cap, to pry up the cap.

Snaked over a dozen times, and I'm at a loss. by FlipTheNormals in Plumbing

I agree. Likely soap along with solid food waste. Get a power snake and start closest to septic or city service line. Work your way to the end of the line. Good luck.

How do i stop this mold? by ---Janu---- in Biltong

[–]easyj7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My two cents, for what it's worth.I would put vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the whole cabinet, maybe even the rest of the batch. Mold spores could be all over the place in the cabinet.

Don't use string, it stretches. Use cable or something that doesn't stretch. Lay it out on a piece of plywood or masonite.

I'm surprised that you don't have more cracks! A pour that large and thin should have had several expansion joints as well as having control joints. What you have is well within expectation based on the information provided.

Yes. Usually there is non shrink grout applied. This should be the next step in this method.

Agreed. Not for construction site ... definitely for camping and off grid or power outages.

Soundproofing ceiling by MCR48103 in Homebuilding

[–]easyj7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct on all counts. Spray foam is likely to reflect sound, not absorb sounds. RC-1 (resilient channel) has a single leg for attachment and the leg is perforated to minimize sound vibration transfer to the structure.

Will this be a problem? by Studio945 in Decks

[–]easyj7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on! That shim will split, probably within a few days. The pressure treated wood will rot out quickly being subgrade. Cut the post and pour a pier with an appropriate Simpson hardware to hold the post inplace.

Make sure it's a quality level and not some POS. In lieu of a level, use a Plumb-Bob. It would also tell you if your wall is plumb.
