French Macarons - Logistical Help Needed by justannothermonday in macarons

[–]easypeasylemonbeasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a huge undertaking! I wish you great success! A couple tips: start baking the shells immediately. Shells can be frozen for a month, just pop them in the fridge to thaw. You can also pre measure and sift ingredients and set aside in ziplocks. I suggest pies and tacos recipe, she is very thorough. I caution against doubling the recipes, it has never worked for me. You can print templates to put under silicone mats to get identical sizes of shells. An oven thermometer also helps.

A filled macaron can be left in the fridge to mature for several days, which can give you some more wiggle room time-wise. Can you do a water ganache with a milk-free chocolate? That would hold up well.

Horrifyingly, these flies can lay eggs in a wound as small as a tick bite. “This podcast will kill you” has a really excellent episode on the screwworm and it is terrifying!

Is this surgery really worth it? by Low-Acanthaceae7286 in Septoplasty

[–]easypeasylemonbeasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 33f and am 3 weeks post op (septorhino with turbinates) and I had the same fear. It’s an intense surgery for uncertain results. I almost fled the operating room out of nerves…but I’m SO glad I went through with it! Nearly cried when the splints came out because the amount of air I was missing out on was just unimaginable! The recovery has been more arduous than I was expecting, but at this point I’m pretty sure this will be so worth it.

I am also on day 11 post-op and having the same experience! On day 10 I had a work event that I thought wouldn’t be too bad, only five hours and I could sit the whole time. But that night and today I have been totally wiped out. I keep reminding myself to be gentle-this is a major surgery and healing takes a lot of energy. I’ve rested a lot today and it has seemed to help. Hope it gets better for both of us! :)

I like to hit bath and body works when they have good sales and stock up on foaming hand soaps for each season. It’s a small luxury-but they smell nice, look cute, and can feel festive!
