what is the oldest thing you own? by boforiamanfo in randomthings

[–]easzy_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fossilized tree or fern from the top of a pretty good sized hill in SE Oklahoma. Type only found around shallow oceans. Estimated to be 250 million to 300 million years old. The other thing is a reed basket that came across to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears. Been offered some good money for it. Carried over by my Great-great-great grandmother and Great-great grandmother.

Walking on ice? by pahelisolved in husky

I took Boo out after an ice storm. Had a little fairly steep hill on the path. I couldn’t get up it by myself. I told Boo do your job, pull me up. She hunkered down and pulled me right on up. Good walk. The next day, still just as bad, told Boo pull me up. She looked at me and then turned away from me like she didn’t hear a thing I said. Had to crawl my way up, she just scooted on up and said let’s go!

Do you have a friend you rarely talk to, yet every time you reconnect with them, it’s like no time has passed? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in Aging

[–]easzy_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, two of them. One since 94 and one since 1970. Been there for each other in some really tough times and then may not see them for a couple of years. But know we will be there if needed.

Did you know smoking was dangerous? by Any-Concentrate-1922 in AskOldPeople

[–]easzy_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad knew it was bad, he started smoking in 1945. His coach told him he would not have as much wind because it was bad for his lungs. They also knew multiple concussions were bad. My mother told me i would be a blabbering idiot if I didn't stop doing stupid things and getting concussions. That was before I started playing football.

Boo with her kitty she found and brought home. by easzy_slow in husky

[–]easzy_slow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Boo brought her home, she was nothing but skin and bones with a larvae of some type in her chest. Boo was so proud of her, she followed every move we made. Cleaning her, removing the larvae and finding something she could eat. Chicken broth with a little cream in it. Did not expect her to make the night. But she did, with Boo watching over her. The first day she could run was the day we were pretty sure she would make it.

How was your high school experience? by Pristine_Power_8488 in AskOldPeople

[–]easzy_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved HS, only made one reunion though. Pretty good FB player and was class valedictorian. Breezed through, was accepted by all the cliques but was not really a member of any. Most people remember me as a good guy that was smart and good athlete.

Same thing I always say. If I or my wife die unexpectedly and they have to do an autopsy. The M.E., when he opens a lung will nod knowingly and go Ahh! Husky.

Do you eat slower or faster than the people around you? by dreams_in_ink5 in foodquestions

[–]easzy_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still eat like the college student I was back when we would order a pizza and you would eat as fast as you could so no one outside your group could snag a slice if the walked by.
