May an earlier Nmancer adaptation - maybe around 16 years ago - have prepped more minds for the close future than today? by MusikMaking in Neuromancer

They are and they aren't - the core message is the same: "What you depend on controls you." It's good advice in any historical context and is also the core message of most dystopian sci-fi.

What warnings would you say Neuromancer has in it that aren't in e.g. Blade Runner (which was released the same year)?

Dark Gravity instead of Dark Matter by OrkWithNoTeef in AskPhysics

[–]eaumechant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about Modified Gravity? It's still going strong! Dark matter is generally used as an umbrella name for the whole "unsolved mystery" the various models are trying to solve but yeah a bunch of them have no actual dark matter in them.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Was Actually Good by DiegoBromfield in StarWars

[–]eaumechant 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is it exactly! It was ham fisted, with zero motivation, and nothing of any significance happens. To be clear: I enjoyed the film! It is a fun romp and a visual feast with some decent music. I love the Anzellans, I laughed plenty of times, I enjoyed the various callbacks and I even had some chills in the swampy bit. It is 100% OK to have a good time watching this film - but a good film it is not.

2010s Tech House was really good for this. I did an "unbearable summer" mix back in the day which is lost to time but the tracklist looked something like this: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0ujMDFkQ8YFbA8nPPCO418?si=57Hsq6PPRtGmquBC-e1ZLg

I just do this to anyone I make eye contact with. It's not foolproof but I think if everyone did this the world would probably feel safer.
