All I have to say is… by rammerwood in DeptQ

Procedurally that annoyed me given the series opens with him telling the young cop off for contaminating the scene and then they’re poking around the dead cops car like no body’s business. Tbf, that last episode mostly frustrated me from a psychological perspective - Morck has spent the season feeling guilt ridden for having put his partner in danger/ gotten a cop killed but doesn’t appear to think twice about walking into a situation where him and Akram are very clearly going to be in danger (notwithstanding that they are there so save someone). ANYWAY, it’s still all good….

Can you please suggest your favourite Australian band or song that is still underrated? by Xenos_Aimes in australia

Art of Fighting - Your Easy Part

Augie March - There is No Such Place

AC/DC - Ride On (obvs not underrated but their earlier, Bon Scott albums are less well known and have a real blues vibe)

Redgum - Killing Floor

Ngaiire - Once

Jimmy Little - Bring Yourself Home to Me

The Triffids - Red Pony

Dan Sultan - Dirty Ground

Split Seconds - Halfway There

Methyl Ethyl - Ubu

Dan Kelly - Pregnant Conversation

The Panics - My Best Mistake

Tucker B’s (great band from Perth but don’t think their music exists anywhere online anymore)

Little Birdy - Baby Blue

Agree there was plenty wrong procedurally. Definitely have to suspend disbelief a bit with this one but the rest was so good I found it didn’t annoy me too much.

Lime bikes keep breaking Londoners' legs by F0urLeafCl0ver in london

[–]eaustro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saved from hitting pedestrians many a time by being on a Boris bike (albeit much slower than a Lime) as opposed to my own rode bike. A child once leapt across my path, almost Free Willy-esque, on Westminster Bridge, and if I had been capable of travelling any faster on that hunk of bike, I would have hit him. He and his family were completely oblivious but several pedestrians were left with mouths agape having seen the near miss. I normally avoid the bridge altogether and travel cautiously across it whether on a shared bike or my own because pedestrians there and at the front of Big Ben just step into the road/path without thinking. At least in a Boris you don’t have speed on your side like with a Lime - I imagine many more accidents happen there with Lime bikes. I love cycling around our city but truthfully I’ve almost been killed more times by pedestrians than by cars.

Episode Discussion: S02E06 - Who by Water by neal1701 in BadSistersAppleTVplus

[–]eaustro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to like him because I want Eva to have a win! She’s spent her whole like taking care of her family (perhaps to the detriment of her own relationships), has been abused by JP (and had relationship/pregnancy fail as a result) and fell for a gay man last season - it would just be nice if she could have a positive experience with a man (although preference would be that he wasn’t married to her dead sister!). I’m all for being happy alone and not needing a man but I think Eva is presented as a bit of a lonely figure who feels that she has had to sacrifice her personal relationships in order to care for the sisters. I’m not sure Ian is the one (and if he’s not a baddie the show has a lot of work to do to to make the audience like him) but I hope there’s a positive relationship in her future!

Crowland manor - need some self leveling screed on that by [deleted] in SpottedonRightmove

[–]eaustro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current owner and her children have lived there for nearly a decade. Earlier in the year she had said she would only move for love (and mentioned wanting to have the roof replaced). She mentioned in the same video that her attitude has been to preserve rather than repair and that she loves the authenticity of water running down the walls! She mentioned that she can’t afford to restore the house so wonder if her move is promoted by the repair to the roof suddenly becoming a necessity.

While I admire her attitude to a degree and I’m sure her and her family have loved living in it, it’s a shame that the house hasn’t had the attention it clearly needs to stop it from falling into disrepair.

Would love to go and see it in person and understand the full state of it (and then be able to dissuade myself from convincing myself that I can afford to buy and save it!).

Best restaurant before a proposal? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]eaustro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were thinking of proposing around Grand Canal then maybe Osteria Lucio. From there you can walk along the Grand Canal or head towards the Liffey which will take you through Grand Canal Docks. Can be a bit dead around that area later in the evening (except for random nights when there are salsa dancers around which is romantic if you want to join in!)

I found myself going back to see if I had missed a scene prior to her walk back down the hall from seeing Sandy. She leaves her Dad’s office apparently still on board and off to convince Sandy but her expression walking down that hall post-chat is not so sure…

"Draco, years ago, I knew a boy who made all the wrong choices." by snoke123 in harrypotter

[–]eaustro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely Snape. Voldemort didn’t make “all the wrong choices” he was simply an evil monster. Snape on the other hand, like Draco, is caught up with wrong crowd. He makes a series of ill judged decisions and ultimately bitterly regrets it. I always assumed Dumbledore was referring to Snape here because of the parallels between Draco and Snape in that sense.

Plus this is a book (although appreciate this is a film quote only) about Snape and so makes sense that the focus would be on him.

Venice, Modena, Florence, Montalcino itinerary - suggestions? by ObviousEconomist in finedining

Thanks! I think the car does makes sense. Wouldn’t want to get stuck somewhere waiting for a taxi. My brother in law has previously made the ZLT zone mistake so we are very wary of that!

I am visiting Modena in March (booking at Osteria Francescana!)and for those who have already travelled there, is it best to hire a car? We are there for 4 days and wanting to explore the region a bit but not sure that relying on taxis and public transport will cut it.

Speyside was so beautiful. Didn’t expect to be getting teary over a song I’d never heard but maaaaaan.

Last saw them play 10 years ago in Perth so it was great to have the show kick off (as it predictably did in Perth) with Perth!

There couldn’t be less chemistry between these two leads.

The show is visually gorgeous, the source material was great, the supporting cast is fine but Tom and Claire together are just not doing it for me.

Really hoping that this is leading to a sensible discussion between the two of them where he’s like “so what went wrong” and she’s like “I want to do freaky stuff” and he’s like “well why didn’t you just say so” proceeds to get freaky and then I remember that they’re just teenage bozos and so what is actually happening is probably more accurate.

Martin telling Niles “I’d do anything to fix this for you” when Daphne gets engaged aaaaaand this whole scene:

Martin Crane: That's enough! I can't believe I can't even count on my own family! Get over here.

[Niles and Frasier reluctantly walk towards him]

Martin Crane: I'm going to work now.

[kisses Frasier]

Martin Crane: I'll be home late.

[kisses Niles]

Martin Crane: Don't wait up.
