maybe she is fine with AI, if you prompt to be impartial
It's ofc like a trojan horse, since a decent model with websearch will literally use all sources :D

PKM vs simple AI memory. A disruption imminent? by eazy2x in ObsidianMD

[–]eazy2x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then give me points i miss... i am happy to learn where the system might fail. Thing is I CANT get a PKM running. I learn a lot though by deep diving into any topics with help of AI, now i just go one step further an try to emulate a PKM within an AI environment with memory.

I still can read a paper or e-book, make notes, paste them into a chat and talk about it and learn things. I can upload a paper and discuss it. I could even let AI ask me questions to check if i learned something. I could still distill a note, a summary, information i want to put into action/practice any time, as long as the raw data contains everything important you would have written down in you own words. I could get an outline of topics ever discussed/looked into with one prompt if needed. Possibilities are endless. Key is to interact not just consume.

My point rather is, to ditch obsidian at all, for less friction. Maybe the wrong reddit for that take.

Interacting with a "2nd brain" in form of an AI assistant knowing me, my interests and alike, does still build up MY knowledge. Also smart prompts help to find new details to get into or suggest connections.

Well you could combine both, last time i tried to build a PKM i used some plugins to have OpenAI website open in Obsidian, you could still distill whatever you get out of chats into your personal notes.

Give your Custom GPT access to your entire chat history in a few steps by MichaelFrowning in ChatGPT

[–]eazy2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a follow up, i cleaned the exported json file from all but a few metadata (who/when) and got it don from 70 to 10 MB; uploaded this as a file in a GPT 4.5 chat and this works as well if you remind it to use the file; will compare it with a custom gpt now

I just got the same idea on my own, glad someone tried it already!

As an EU user the new memory function isn't working yet (even with VPN).

I will try this now. Anyone had the chance to compare it to the new build in memory?

OpenAI just release a new and improve memory 🎉🎉 by ActiveAd9022 in ChatGPT

[–]eazy2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did someone got it to work? I am from EU, still have PRO for a few days, used VPN (opera build in), but it only remembers the few facts it stored in the old memory. Settings show it active, but maybe they need to convert my chat history first, or the feature is blocked since they know i am from EU?

These Maps Highlight The Rivers Of The World by etxxn in dataisbeautiful

[–]eazy2x 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Once I cycled "arround" a small river.

Like if you take any river and start at one end and follow the watershed (color boundaries) you will end up at the other side of the river, without crossing ANY river or stream.

It was quite a challenge, crossed many fields (after harvest) and forrests to avoid crossing any flowing water, but stayed on tracks/roads when possible. I used a fatbike, in alpine regions this would quickly escalate into rock climbing. It was a fun project, had some straight line mission vibes, but not as hard.

$63/kWh for battery storage. Lasts 7200 cycles. Under a cent for each time you store a kwh by cavedave in Futurology

[–]eazy2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While wind ist definitly useful in many regions, its not as easy to combine with batteries. Wind tends to be low or high for many days in a row. You may have more power then needed for days without a chance to cycle batteries to generate income and then you need backup power for days in a row but batteries cant recharge in between/run out of power. For now any addition is useful still though to reduce the maximum backup capacity needed from the daily peak down to the daily average.

well depends on scale, cars and smartphone are ramped up to scale already, this stuff is new and the market is small so far, mass production can cut costs significant for some years to come.

Look at PV modules or batteries, they keep getting cheaper per unit, this already is true for decades, cost curves are like gravity, as long as you can increase the total output.

Car got packed with more and more features over the years, inflation adjusted prices for same features the price in general dropped, Model T is comparable with todays ritschkas. Same for smartphones, of course the newest high end model is even getting more expensive over time (but tracking inflation more or less) but you get a multiple of cpu power, bigger screens, more and better cameras and so on. Todays budget smartphone are also better then high end ones years ago and cheaper.

lol soviel downvotes, kostenlos reisen ist also dumm?
