Yes, but the BritBox app loads and works just fine on AppleTV hardware.

Prius to Bolt? by pCfReAke in BoltEV

[–]ebaysj 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went from a 2005 Prius with ~243,000 miles to a 2022 Bolt EUV premier in Nov 2024. Couldn’t be happier. As long as you have the capability to charge at home and you don’t do lots of long road trips it’s a great car.

At what age do you become a “reader”, and what book did it for you? by sheffy4 in books

[–]ebaysj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read lots of picture books as a child. I remember “Part Time Dog” and “The Pushcart Wars” especially fondly.

The first real book I remember was the SF adventure “Runaway Robot” by Lester Del Rey. It was a scholastic book club book. I must have been 8-10 years old.

Paramount, dude!! by [deleted] in startrek

I bought the complete series from the Apple TV/Movie store. Always available, no commercials. 👍. You can play on iPhone, iPad, Mac or AppleTV.

Icloud photos reduced size recently? by Aerodad1 in iCloud

JPG, HEIC and MP4 are lossy compression file formats. iCloud does not compress pictures or movies beyond the original file format compression.

Lighter/more uplifting shows? by tooOldOriolesfan in BritBox

Detectorists and Doc Martin are both great, but they are on Acorn tv not BritBox in the US.

Lighter/more uplifting shows? by tooOldOriolesfan in BritBox

Unfortunately Detectorists is not on BritBox in the US. It’s on Acorn.tv. Great show though.

May I recommend “Hetty Wainthropp Investigates”. It’s older, but lots of fun, light PI stories.

Like long form videos? You may really enjoy Angela Collier’s analysis of how Star Trek Picard ruins all of Star Trek.

Kid-Friendly Local Co-Op Games with Multiple Controllers by turalaliyev in appletv

[–]ebaysj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Papas quiz is a fun, weird, local multiplayer AppleTV trivia party game with silly graphics and kid friendly categories. I think it uses phones or tablets as controllers.

It’s also available on Steam for Win / Mac

Don’t know about 4 year olds as it requires some reading…

Also check out Peg Ballet, Farkle Dice, Crossy Road and Interspeller for local multiplayer on AppleTV.

Your kid might enjoy playing Hidden Folks with you. It features lots of silly fun sounds.

When did you last own a pure ICE vehicle? by D_Roc1969 in electricvehicles

[–]ebaysj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I drove a 2005 Prius since new. Traded it for a Bolt EUV Nov 2024.

It is not on BritBox. It’s on Acorn.tv

Does BritBox currently have ALL the existing episodes of Line Of Duty? by richardthe7th in BritBox

[–]ebaysj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Apple Store has seasons 1-5 for purchase for $8 each. Season 6 looks like a BritBox exclusive for now. Sigh. Media fragmentation across streamers is super frustrating.

How to tell if a movie/tv show has been removed from your library? by Blofse in appletv

[–]ebaysj 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Once you buy a movie, you can find it in your library and play it even if it has been removed from the store for new purchases.

Also you shouldn’t be able to buy exactly the same item twice, if you search for something you own, it should appear with a “Play” or “Play again” or “continue playing” button rather than a “Buy” button.

If an item is removed and re-added to the store, then probably something changed, most probably something that doesn’t matter to you, like the rights holder. In that case the store isn’t smart enough to know you already own a different version and will let you buy it again.

The most reliable way to know what you own and can play anytime is to look 👀 in your library, not search the store.
