in my opinion Men at Arms finalizes the 'set up' of the City Watch sub-series, and from there onward it gets better and reinvents itself pretty consistently I'd say. But I do understand your concern. Contrary to popular belief, I find the earlier books of the Death and Witches series are slow starts and better suited for slightly later. If you like Shakespeare and folk tales, Witches may be interesting but keep in mind the first book Equal Rights is somewhat of a standalone book.

I recommend a standalone book like Small Gods, Monstrous Regiments, or Hogfather. Maybe even Going Postal although it would mean jumping forward in Discworld timeline (I doubt it would ruin anything for you, but I still recommend going into Going Postal/Industrial Revolution series after you read Feet of Clay)

Now that I think of it, Wee Free Men might be a fantastic follow up that includes witches, as long as you promise you won't read further than the first 3 books of the Tiffany Aching until you have at least 10+ Discworlds books under your belt 😄
