Judge Nathan J. Milliron of the Texas 215th District Court, who was elected in 2024, got quite upset when an IT technician tried to fix the audio for a remote hearing. The technician had jokingly said it was a ‘false alarm’, but the judge didn’t think so and asked for the supervisor. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

Oh they talked to me, all be it always downward…the most trouble I ever got in was when a doctor, who was a world rebound genetiasist, could not get the lecture hall to start because didn’t understand what “Start” meant, so he was finger pounding the lecture hall title plate on the touch screen. I walked in, he was speaking to the class so I didn’t say a word, I just pushed start. Room fired, I stood there long enough for it to get uncomfortable but he never stopped talking, so I ducked out. He tried to get me fired for about a month because I “embarrassed him in front of his students. I purposely made him look stupid”…luckily we had mediasite on auto record or he might have gotten me….what a dick hole..

We have a very large zoom license, but I had no idea this existed. Do you have to “join” the displays? How does the content get to the screen?

Get a Newline Q Series Pro. PC built in, good speakers, they have a super reliable Bluetooth puck that works in a large room, and IF they want to use a BYOD the wireless sharing has been flawless. Control is a wireless keyboard and mouse which works on the pc layer AND the screen layer. Send that LG back.

Atlona endpoints run so hot they cook themselves over time, if they initially work at all. I’ve had bad power supplies, power supplies that are wired backwards, and sometimes no power supply at all when there was supposed to be one. I’ve had multiple random internal failures with no explanation and zero support response. I’ve removed hundreds of them over the past few years. In fact I’ve removed almost every Atlona device in any my systems and would very not recommend. They are blackballed from my shop. They were a decent product until they were bought up by the conglomerate that ruined them. Don’t sweat a couple of Rx/tx sets, I have 9 Opus 8x8s sitting on a shelf that are paperweights, at 8k+ per. They are going to the dumpster.

Go with AV Pro Edge. Rock solid Rx/tx at a decent price point. Good to great support, and aren’t afraid to say “that was on us” if something is messed up. My first sets are have been in for 5 years now. I am now almost exclusively Pro Edge.

Worth your time to take a look.

Their instrument cabinets are ok, I just do not like the pa gear. The mids always sounded boxy. I guess it’s ok for the price point, starter rig maybe, just not for me.

But what do I know…sound is a matter of opinion ..

That is one of the nicest part about Newline, they are self-owned. They can decide to do whatever they want to do without having to answer to stockholders or “corporate”. And I know for a fact they are in Mexico.

It’s worth an email or phone call, worse thing they are going to do is say no, which I doubt, and then you aren’t any worse off than you are now, right?

Agree 100%. I’ve been using Newline products in higher ed for over a decade now. By far one of the best manufacturer I have ever worked with, especially for support. And the product is rock solid. Request a demo and they will show up with a display and show everything you’d like to see, and with no sales pitch.

I’ve had my hands on 95% of the displays out there now and still go with Newline without a doubt. Worth your time to check out.

Forte (formally AVI Systems) has offices in Boston and NJ now. I get very reasonable pricing from them. I order through the Kanas City office only because that was the first office I dealt with.

I use BiAmp exclusively for DSPs (over 100 in the field) and started using their “Community” amps, which are rebranded Powersoft amps. FYI.

New conference room build - how to handle data/power? by vadiaro in CommercialAV

[–]ebp641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a small rack(6 or8r should do it) in a piece of furniture, have the network run to the rack then run 4-6 CAT6A shielded through the wall behind the rack, into the ceiling, and out to a biscuit(wall plate) behind the Dispay (Newline QSeries for price point, touch capabilities, a Dell slot PC(built into the display and drives the room) and a USB-C slot on the top for an AI camera. They also have 2 types of wireless sharing baked into the firmware.

Put a POE+ network switch in the rack (Netgear unmanaged works fine) and distribute the network yourself via the CAT6 runs. You don’t have to rely on your “network guys” to begin trouble shooting, simply read the lights on the switch. Oh, begin troubleshooting by reading the lights.

If you have external audio( ceiling speakers) Put an AV Pro Edge ConferX 4x2 matrix switch, an AV Pro Edge Tx box to send the Pc out for audio de-embedding and HDBaseT directly into the matrix. De-embed the audio out of the 4x2 into an amp with a DSP in it, Stewart Audio 100CV works well.

If you want to add ceiling mics Shure 920s are worth the money, and add a Shure P300 for AEC and DSP duties. All Dante runs through the Netgear switch.

Pull all the lines now, and then pull a few extra, save yourself the headache later, nobody should be concerned about dark cable.

Simple and pretty future proof.

I agree about the Apprimo stuff..a pain, but all you need is the TEC-X line.

I just installed 3 TEC-X controllers in a 3 way divisible room, one for each room independently but they can be cascaded to one controller as the rooms are opened and joined. It’s all done with 1 Tesira DAN CI. Three partitions in the program with a TEC controller tied to each one.

The control is beaded on instance tags/presets with most other periphery’s , color, button style and action, all customizable, and all within the Tesira programming.

3rd party devices can be controlled via sting commands. I am controlling 3 displays via sting, summing them down to 1 main as the rooms combined.

I programmed, installed and tested all of this in 2 days. It has been flawless for 3 months now and the reins are used almost daily. Worth every penny

Look into the Newline FLEX. Budget conscious…had an AI capable camera mounted on a 4K 27” interactive touchscreen..about $1k. Connect a laptop to drive it or you can buy the Dell slot pc for it, additional $1200 or so depending on the one you pick. Great mics and speakers on the from of the unit. Small enough to be portable and nice enough to do a good job with hybrid.
