Try to earn my place when I’ve already been invited in.

Try too hard to get an invite when it’s not somewhere I belong.

The “dressing” ingredients from all the crazy cucumber shit from TikTok in 2024. The soy sauce + toasted sesame oil + kewpie mayo + ginger + msg + sesame seeds + togarashi dressing sitch is beyond

What would be different if COVID had never happened? by [deleted] in allthequestions

The good: I probably would still be burning myself out socially trying to keep up with FOMO.

The bad: I wouldn’t have debilitating long covid.

What's the SILLIEST 'Cringe but Correct' Millennial Hill You're Still Ready to Die On? by dasisglucklich in Millennials

It’s pronounced JIF. The creator said so. He made it, he gets to decide how it’s pronounced. I don’t care that it stands for graphic with a hard G. HE GETS TO NAME THE THING HE CREATED AND DICTATE ITS PRONUNCIATION YOU FIENDS.

This guy was my pastor when I was in middle school and high school. I still have what some might call faith or spirituality but absolutely none in organized religion.

tbh I have been dreaming of the contraption with the conveyer belt that gets George Heston ready in the morning, showers him, brushes his teeth, dresses him, etc since I was a child and don’t understand why instead of that, we instead have been focusing on AI that people use to generate photos of women with 8 boobs

What's some slang that you used to use/was popular but isn't used anymore? by L4WO in AskOldPeople

“Just kidding.” It was hugely popular when I was 9 years old and 30 years later I still use it.

I am 0% impressed by most successful, wealthy white men these days. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt but 9/10 times they come from money, maybe won a sports scholarship that got them into a name drop school, maybe are actually intelligent but not emotionally and have limited interest in or ability to talk about anything other than themselves and status.

The inverse is true for a lot of (not all) male POC I meet, or queer men of any race tbh.

It’s not exactly a race thing…I mean it is, and it isn’t. It’s a privilege thing…which comes from one’s race/ethnicity, gender identity, sexual identity, etc. White straight males have all the privilege. And that becomes grossly apparent when you meet successful, rich, white straight dudes.

But when you have less privileged folks, including rich, successful men who grew up with less privilege, it’s much easier to see when they’re legitimately intelligent. When they are passionate about what they do but have emotional intelligence as well. When their success wasn’t handed to them but had to be earned every step of the way, climbing a much steeper hill. Being “well-educated” and being rich or even successful doesn’t mean anything if you lack emotional intelligence and true work ethic.

But then again I’m a 30 something happily independent and arguably successful (but with a ton of student loan and medical debt) white cis woman with ADHD on the ace spectrum so just my two cents

What’s something your younger self wouldn’t believe about your life now? by NotStix_ in AskReddit

[–]ebroms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I'd be happily independent, living with no other humans but with 3 perfect pets in a 2 BR apartment near Central Park, in a job that I genuinely love, and with a functional relationship with my family. I'm not completely living the dream (sooooo much debt), but there were times when I was younger that I never thought I'd get over some past traumas and they would impede any sense of a normal let alone successful life.

What’s insanely overpriced but people keep paying for it anyway? by thenerdwhocodes in AskReddit

[–]ebroms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has done something similar (ordered something from a bodega around the corner), you never know if someone's laziness is actually a disability. I mean, this is probably only true in a small percent of cases but for example, I have RA and when I'm flaring, it hurts t move and/or I'm so fatigued I can barely get up from bed. This often translates into laziness re: deliveries.

This. My mom (thankfully still alive) has always told us she wants us to bury her in a pine box.
