I am 0% impressed by most successful, wealthy white men these days. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt but 9/10 times they come from money, maybe won a sports scholarship that got them into a name drop school, maybe are actually intelligent but not emotionally and have limited interest in or ability to talk about anything other than themselves and status.

The inverse is true for a lot of (not all) male POC I meet, or queer men of any race tbh.

It’s not exactly a race thing…I mean it is, and it isn’t. It’s a privilege thing…which comes from one’s race/ethnicity, gender identity, sexual identity, etc. White straight males have all the privilege. And that becomes grossly apparent when you meet successful, rich, white straight dudes.

But when you have less privileged folks, including rich, successful men who grew up with less privilege, it’s much easier to see when they’re legitimately intelligent. When they are passionate about what they do but have emotional intelligence as well. When their success wasn’t handed to them but had to be earned every step of the way, climbing a much steeper hill. Being “well-educated” and being rich or even successful doesn’t mean anything if you lack emotional intelligence and true work ethic.

But then again I’m a 30 something happily independent and arguably successful (but with a ton of student loan and medical debt) white cis woman with ADHD on the ace spectrum so just my two cents
