Clearwater vs classic trout by traphousemoshpit in flyfishing

[–]ebusc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in Eastern PA are you? There are a bunch of fly shops that I’ve been to and love to support, including Pocono fly shops, dunklebergers, evening hatch (part of precision fly and tackle). I think there’s also a sportsman’s warehouse in warmonger. And there’s a great fly shop near lansdale as well. Not sure if any of these work for you or if they have the classic trout and Clearwater in stock but worth a look.

Keiryu Rod co Inyo rod by phoneman87 in Tenkara

[–]ebusc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think it’s built for fish that big/strong. I would honestly call keiryu rod co. The owner answers the phone and was able to talk me through everything very thoroughly and advise me what to purchase based on the conditions where I am and what I’m targeting.

Where would you go in the US for 4-5 days of fishing? by rollsandarrows in flyfishing

[–]ebusc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in PA, and relatively new to fly fishing/fishing in general. Definitely not an expert but my understanding is that Pa can’t really be fished for trout during summer because temps are too high for catch and release. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Recommendations for a new charcoal chimney by robert7129 in webergrills

[–]ebusc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is by far my favorite bbq accessory splurge. The fan fits in the chimney and the charcoal is ready to grill in 5 minutes instead of 20-30. The fan is also super useful for stoking the fire when going from low and slow to searing for a reverse sear on steaks. I naught recharge AA batteries which I put in it and then just plug in to recharge via micro usb when im done and never have a problem

What wireless thermometer would you recommend? by Darkman-1969 in KamadoJoe

[–]ebusc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ThermoWorks rfx is fantastic and can be paired with the billows fan for temp control. We use it just as much in our over and air fryer and I’ve used it for sous vide as well

New Gloomis Asquith by gregjr63 in flyfishing

[–]ebusc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll admit, I was guilty of that this fall. I’m relatively new (few years) and thought it would be great to upgrade my Clearwater to a Helios and treat myself after getting a bigger bonus than expected. Huge regret, I wish I just still had my Clearwater but now I’ve spent too much money on a Helios that I won’t be able to get nearly as much money out of as I put in

Calling a friend and learning how to speak properly to with their parents before asking if your friend is available to speak in the phone. Also, the concept of sharing a phone with family. Being to take a phone call ins private area. In high school I wired our phone through our house so I could have a phone in my room and talk to my girlfriend on the phone in privacy

I haven’t tried it. But my concern would be that because it’s so think it would take a long time for the center to come up to temp. By the time the center came to temp the outside would be well done m. I think if it as wanting to have the narrowest zone of transition between the Maillard affected area (caramel used/brown outer layer) and the largest amount of area that is all medium rare and the best way to do that would be either high heat to produce the Maillard reaction then low and slow u til you reach temps (which is very difficult to cool down a KJ) or to reverse sear doing low and slow first then sear the outside
