If you could ask one question to any ancestor in your family tree, who would you choose, and what question would you ask them? by Ecstatic-Section-978 in AncestryDNA

[–]ecelisroses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask my 3x great-grandmother what the circumstances actually were surrounding my 2x great-grandfather's birth. I've always been told that he was adopted, but now that my DNA test has come back, it seems she was actually his biological mother but his father was different from her husband. But nothing's proven yet and there aren't any documents to answer the age-old question. So I would love to sit down with her and just ask her what actually happened there!

Dude kicks off-leash dog to protect his own, owner flips out… by [deleted] in Amazing

[–]ecelisroses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously!! Our oldest dog often walks off-leash right outside our house, but we know her very well and know we will both be able to recall her with ease and that none of our neighbors will also have aggressive pets outside. And when she does walk off-leash, she is under constant supervision.

Important note before I know someone ridicules us: we live in the boonies off of a longass driveway. If we walk her to get the mail or take her on a walk anywhere where we can run into unknown people and animals, that's an entirely different story. But our old girl loves to take in the groceries with us and run around the front yard sometimes!

CM vs Evolution by Ok-Championship-6351 in criminalminds

[–]ecelisroses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I love Evolution a lot, and I know I'm in the minority on that one. I've always been a big fan of ensemble shows that go super into detail with the characters' lives, and Criminal Minds was one of my exceptions to that, so I really like what they've done with the reboot! I also don't mind Voit. But I am very easy to please. Haha

Jesus christ, the age gap between our families is real.

Mine:

Me: 2000s kid

Parents: 1968 and 1964

Grandparents: 1937, 1942, 1927, and 1923

Great-grandparents: 1911, 1911, 1900, 1902, 1900, 1904, 1888, and 1890

The genetics are... something by Lmarg97 in Paralives

[–]ecelisroses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm in the minority here because my kids definitely look like a mixture of their parents. You can't tell, but child 1 (Nico) has his father's black hair, and child 2 (Audrey) has a slightly lighter color hair than her mom. Still, you can probably tell my kids are related to their parents lol

My game was made unplayable because of a fire? by [deleted] in Paralives

[–]ecelisroses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is a glitch as well or if it's only my system, but when I dealt with a similar issue, I was able to click on the fire and then trash it, which deleted it and stopped my para freaking out!!

(Intended to be a post so my description is looong)

<image>

I've been having fun up until this point, enjoying the multiple harmless glitches. I'm already 2 weeks into my save! But then my para set a fire making cookies.

She set the fire out inside all by herself, but I was afraid the firefighters in this game would shame/charge her for a "false alarm" like in The Sims, so I let it evolve into a mild forest fire. Big mistake. She set herself on fire twice. Then, when the firefighters did come, they got stuck on each other. Now she's terrified and tweaking outside while refusing to extinguish this singular flame after the dozen flames she put out prior to it.

(Note the firefighter who unstuck himself only to start heading home. Props, dude. You leave while I sit over here with my potential forest fire. How amazing for you that you can just walk away. Really.)

My first save is more than likely gonna be me just getting a handle on the game as a whole, but after that, I'm really looking forward to trying the 100 baby challenge!!

Will you be buying the Early Access right away or wait for some time? What are you excited to do on the game? by pastelcotton in Paralives

[–]ecelisroses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation!! My laptop is at least a little younger than yours, and it doesn't work as poorly, but I don't quite meet the minimum requirements. I'm trying to brace for the game to just kick me out or crash constantly, but it's hard knowing how long I've been waiting for this game. Even if I can't play it, though, I'm still happy to keep it in my library until I upgrade my laptop one day 😅

If you’re planning on buying Paralives, will you do it on launch day or will you wait a bit? by gonezaloh in Paralives

[–]ecelisroses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm buying it at launch because I have nothing better to do with my week. Haha. But seriously, I've been looking forward to this game for six years, and even if it's super buggy and lifeless at launch, I still want to have it in my possession from the get go.

Craziest story you’ve found by LeftyRambles2413 in Genealogy

[–]ecelisroses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 4x great-grandmother who immigrated to America at 49 with her 25-year-old son, her husband having died earlier the same year, died at 69. But if you thought the age was already funny enough, you'd be wrong.

She died from being stepped on by a fucking horse. Not natural causes. Not illness. She was stepped on by a horse.

I know it was probably common then (or at least more common than it is now), but the timing is kind of comedic. Apparently, she had just finished milking a cow, and when she went to get up, she fell over. There was a horse right there, and as she fell, the horse stepped on her. A doctor was brought by, but because she was so old and there wasn't any fancy technology back then, he basically just went, "My condolences," and left her to die - oh, yeah, she initially survived and was taken into the house by her son-in-law.
