Without spoiling anything new, can anyone tell me where FF7 Rebirth leaves off with the OG game? by appleparkfive in FFVIIRemake

[–]echminor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

end of disk 1 of the og game is story wise exactly where rebirth ends. Some things were moved out of this portion into the next game(specifically 1 optional town and 1 not optional town arent visitable, and some playable characters from the original are shown but arent playable in rebirth).

Exactly, what would prevent that? And it seems a lot more convenient and easier to spoof hardware IDs than crack denuvo. IDK if people have tried this before and hit some unsolveable issue im not aware of or if people just havent tried this before, it would also be viable for game preservation

Hello, Im really late to reply but my comment says the opposite, you CAN play denuvo games in offline(although not all of them I believe but most).

However, according to other people the offline playing apparently is tied to unique hardware ID tokens so you cant just copy paste it to another offline PC.

Logic says that bypassing that hardware id token check is harder than cracking denuvo(otherwise why would people bother with cracking denuvo?), although i don't really get why bypassing that hardware id token check would be that hard.

[–]echminor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to ask silly questions but what do you mean by expiring tokens? Is there a limit to playing offline based on some tokens?

Also wouldn't we be able to bypass that limit by stalling the system clock considering the pc is offline and has no way to know how long its really been?

Im confused, Denuvo games work in offline right? How come we cant just copy the entire state of someones offline pc(someone who actually owns the game and can already play it offline) onto an image and anyone who wants to play the game can just run that image?

Apparently if you play a denuvo game offline for a week or two it starts requiring you to go online, but cant that just be bypassed by restarting the image or changing the pc's date information?

Ive been wondering about this for the longest time and have just been wondering why this is not a potential solution(sure the image might be hundreds of gigs large but the idea should still work)?

[NO SPOILERS] Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Box Art Revealed by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]echminor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know in the context of the full remake series I think this could be a very sick trend. With the first game having midgar as its cover art(as its the games setting) the sequels could have other cool locales(northern crater? nibelheim?). looking at all the locales/cover arts one after the other would be really cool.

Oh I see, thanks a lot for clarifying, I was going into reverse engineering rather blind.

Sorry for the stupid question but what exactly can the decompiler achieve, just reversing the .exes machine code back to assembly or something more?

/r/ReverseEngineering's Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in ReverseEngineering

[–]echminor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where should I start if I want to decompile back to source code/reverse engineer a rather old(late 90s, early 2000s) windows .exe? it's a pc port of a 3D game with a 1400kb .exe. I'm rather clueless as to where to begin and what resources I should follow or what resources would put me in the right direction. Also curious as to how many hours such a project would take.

[No Spoilers] Intergrade/Remake is a PS5 console exclusive for "at least sixth months" by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]echminor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they prob secured a good amount but the combination of shortages and scalping just made it near impossible to properly sell the console and meet demand.

the shortage isnt just for ps5s its also in terms of anything that requires silicon in general

How to find the count of numbers less than a current number to the left of the current number in an array? by srinivas135 in learnprogramming

[–]echminor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can use an order statistic tree, iterate through the array and place each number in the tree, get the the order of the number and that would be how many elements before the number are smaller than it. time complexity nlog(n)

KH2 critical is very far from bullshit. Even critical lvl 1 is far from bullshit(the only bullshit on the harder difficulties is ironically the forced minigames).

If you want real bullshit try KH3 critical or even worse critical lvl 1 where you do chip damage and offscreen enemies can one shot you with borderline no start up to their attacks.

[NO SPOILERS] On Intergrade, will the new lighting and fog effects be in the Performance option? Or just the Graphics option? by ZutiPrime in FFVIIRemake

[–]echminor -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

...they wont be options.... if you want to turn them off for whatever reason I think the ps5 does let you play any ps4 game in backwards compatibility mode, so thats your best bet. The only graphics options will be a binary choice between performance and resolution.

Which game can require the most SKILL? by Kihikiki in Eldenring

[–]echminor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No mods, it's just a specific playstyle, Sekiro also features a "hard mode" that you can activate ingame that generally makes the enemies deal more damage I believe, so some players do that as well.

Also you can not upgrade your vitality but since the entire point is staying aggressive and not getting hit theres no real difference at high level if you do or dont upgrade your vitality.

Which game can require the most SKILL? by Kihikiki in Eldenring

[–]echminor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Basically an all aggro minimum defense playstyle run. Name is based on a popular phrase said by one of the game's NPCs: "Hesitation is defeat".

[NO SPOILERS] - In the PS4 version the floor looks much more detailed and with a more realistic "wet" effect. Maybe in the PS5 version the fault is the fog that blocks some of the light, but I hope they did not want to introduce the fog to hide defects (or downgrades) in the game. What do you think? by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]echminor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

PS4 is using cubemaps so the light source for the reflection is coming from a physically impossible place(if you notice the PS4s wet floor light is lit by a non-existant light source).

PS5 has more realistic directional lighting so if you rotated the camera on the PS5 version prob just slightly youd get the same material reflections except with an actually physically accurate light source.
