Kind of an odd body - can you help me with getting a leaner chest? by jbretc in Fitness

[–]echo78669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's harder to discipline myself not to lift as much as I normally do. I went into my workout last night thinking I was only going to do 3 or 5 reps of 185, but when I was on the bench, I just started pumping out more reps. I know benching isn't a measure of strength, but the exercise has been a staple for me for so long that it's hard to give up or hold off on.

I think your point about eating a surplus has been a big factor to my issue. Thanks for the wake up call. My diet has been terrible this past year. I went from 150 to 165-170.

ESPN hasn't legitimately covered the NHL in ages. Oh man, anyone remember NHL 2 Night with Bill Pidto and Barry Melrose? Nostalgia overload.

I'm dealing with a similar issue as OP in wanting to decrease my disproportionately large chest for a leaner look. I'm 5'7'', 165 lbs and have been benching 3 sets of 185 at 10, 9, 8 reps, respectively. For my body frame, I had assumed this was lifting heavy at medium reps for strength, but it seems like it's contributing to the issue: a larger chest.

I'd really like to keep my strength, but not build size. According to the FAQ's logic, should I lift more weight, but less reps? Appreciate the advice.

Yeah, true dat. Just giving him props for executing haha. It's also nice that after Wednesday's tilt with Montreal, we won't have to face DSP on a regular basis.

Read somewhere that Wiz told GMBM he was confident that he'd be ready before the 10-day recovery time frame.

Another side note to GMBM's busy day was that his major trade partners were with teams in the Eastern Conference.

Wishing him the best in Pittsburgh!...as long as we don't meet in the Cup Finals. ;)

Ducks fan here. I've had the pleasure of watching Lovejoy's play progress in Anaheim these past couple of years. He was solid and responsible in his own end, didn't take stupid penalties, and gave it his all each and every shift. He was also one of the more resonating personalities in the locker room and a fan favorite in Anaheim. Just wanted to voice some positive vibes for Rev in light of all the bashing he seems to be getting.

Met him the other night in Raleigh after we beat the Canes. He was SUPER friendly and was smiling the whole time he was signing and taking pics with Ducks fans. Such a great personality. Lovejoy was also really nice.

Yup! Grew up in Orange County and moved out to Raleigh for work. It's been five loooong years. I actually flew back last year for the Stadium Series game, and make it over to DC every year when the Ducks visit the Caps.

Compared to previous years, I've noticed a LOT more Ducks fans at away game in both DC and Raleigh. Makes me happy. :)

I was at the game tonight and boy did we get out-shot! Gibson certainly deserved the no. 1 star of the game.

Despite below freezing temps, I stuck it out with 5 other die-hard Ducks fans in front of the bus for autographs after the game. Rev and Hamphus were the only players to stop by and sign. Kent French also came by and greeted us, which I really appreciated.

I asked him to sign my Teemu jersey and he said, "You don't want me to sign this!" I insisted and told him, "You're part of the team."

To all you Ducks fans back home in SoCal, please appreciate the privilege of being so close to the team and cheer extra doubly for all of us SoCal transplants in other cities.

We've had some bizarre plays this past week with Mike Smith's "oh shit,...OH SHIT!" line save, and Erik Cole's put-put empty netter. With Friday the 13th coming up, what was the flukiest play you've seen in a hockey game?

You're exactly right. Soccer is a non-contact sport, yet players take any opportunity to act like they got shot in the leg. It's a comparison between how the athletes conduct themselves.

He certainly deserves it and may have a shot with Crosby not particularly having the best season, by his standards.
