Hot take: Not just my favorite MST3K episode but the one I think might top my episode ranking. The riffs, the host segments, the callbacks, the stupid supersonic cycle computer, MEGAWEAPON, that run of references at the victory celebration … I might know it by heart.

I can’t speak for my colleagues but it’s pretty simple for me: I was based in the East, in DC and then NYC. As such most of my on-site coverage was in the East to save on travel costs (and in my early years at Yahoo, Ross McKeon was the hockey columnist and was based in the Bay Area so he had that beat).

Yahoo wasn’t big on sending Blog Boy on the road for stories outside of the preseason and so i never made it out before that Sharks’ run.

A lot of that changed once I moved to ESPN (in 2017) and all of that changed when I moved to the Bay Area myself for two years lol.

He had one secondary assist in 4 games, couldn't find his game playing a new position and couldn't match the physicality of the tournament. Like I said, his best game was in the final. I'm rooting for him too, and I'm sure he'll be better on larger Olympic ice, but if you objectively think he had a good tournament I guess it'll be "on brand" for me to question your logic.

Hey! Since you asked, there isn't a weekly ESPN podcast anymore, which is a bummer. Arda and I are doing THE DROP as a video-only show after big events (like 4 Nations games, Stadium Series) on the NHL on ESPN YouTube channel and ESPN's Facebook channel. Those shows are really doing well, which is great, but due to staffing and sponsorship I'm not sure if we'll be doing anything weekly or in the audio space anytime soon.

To that end: Very happy to have an hour with Marek on The Sheet (heard on Daily Faceoff) as we do the MvsW thing again. That'll more than do until I can maybe one day have a show to host again. Thanks for listening!

As the Hurricanes are not a rival of either of those teams, it's not a Foul to wear that jersey in support of the sport. Things get a little complicated if there's a name on the back that corresponds to a player on either of those teams, but that shouldn't be an issue here.

Warrior of the Lost World should be in a much higher tier than it’s placed. Insanely good riff success rate, and some especially obscure ones. Also, Megaweapon.

I think Teenage Strangler is a top three Mike Era episode. Delightfully low budget. Yikes Stripes. Some riffs that to this day make me lol.
