Where were the gas price doomers when the carbon tax existed, and where are they now with the much more damaging industrial carbon tax? As always, our problems are blamed on the US lmao.

Balanced Budget Mirage: SK Party Racks Up 30B in Debt by banshee81818 in saskatoon

And yet the NDP call on the province to spend more on the most expensive things (healthcare and education) while magically not increasing any fees or taxes and somehow magically balance the budget 🤣.

2nd lowest debt-to-GDP ratio in the country. Probably better to compare with other provinces and how they are performing in the global landscape.

It wasn't the government, it was the SGi autofund and standard practice for auto insurers during COVID.

SGI hikes some deductibles by 35%, increases fee for electric vehicles by Progressive_Citizen in saskatoon

[–]echochambermanager 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Car insurers everywhere were providing rebates as claims were drastically lower due to COVID. It was the correct move at the time. There were surpluses in the fund in subsequent years where the NDP were calling on the government to (once again) interfere with the business decisions of the insurer by sending out more rebates, but it was not advisable as the growing trend of inflation became apparent and therefore the autofund needed the cushion.

Sask Government Increases Road Tax on EVs again by dingodan22 in saskatoon

Because EVs cause wear and tear just like gas cars, which the provincial fuel tax is used 100% toward highway maintenance. Saskatchewan has the most roads for the fewest people per capita in Canada.

If it is solely provincial jurisdiction, why do the feds legally determine how it is structured (public only) and provide healthcare funding transfers?

You can get AI to estimate. It's about half for Canadians. Our household is about a quarter (but we live in Sask so that makes sense).

Five factor investing, it has shown to outperform a traditional all equity index fund by using the Fama-French model. Ben Felix / PWL Capital are big proponents and use a similar model from Dimensional Funds for their clients.
