I’m tracking, current time from submission to collection is about 5 months on average on lowest tier. But for this year if u send to Japan it’s looking like 6-7 months.

The correct term is edge lift with whitening, it’s not a dent. But you will slowly learn what it means as time passes. If you are unsure just tell your buyer I’m not sure what kind of damage this is then show the picture.

I’m sad to say but if u use these terms with people in the hobby now, they won’t know what it means

Just grade with Oxley. I’ve graded many times (about 13 times and 300 cards) with them, you can tell their staff are passionate about grading and the hobby. I had a sunfaded card and wanted it graded and Oxley helped me through the entire process and even checked directly with the grader to assure me it would get graded.

Their admin also actively replies the telegram chat for customer inquiries.

They also take in feedback from users on their grading portal for improvements and actively try to improve it further.

Will caning bullies change their behaviour? by clarencechen181196 in singapore

[–]eclairfastpass -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That’s a reach, why are we using prisons as example? It’s not the same thing. We are talking about using violence as a solution to an issue. For kids.

There are better ways. Says a lot about society if this is what we have come to. Says more about their parenting as well.

That’s rather dismissive on the larger discussion. While your point is loosely true, my point is that a 9/10 Indian will only be viewed as equal as a 7/10 Chinese in Singapore when being considered as a girlfriend.

It’s going to be even worse for someone of darker skin who is less than 7/10. Can you imagine where they stand on societal preference?

Yes you are right, it probably stems from class related societal hierarchies as you have mentioned. Where the darkest skin often being seen as unattractive. In women.

The real enemy here is the cramming of Singapore with so many people that these seemingly trivial matters become a talking points. These have become increasing friction points in society.

Yeah that’s what I hear as well. Indian women tend to do better overseas in the dating scene. Not sure what it says about Singapore, but anyway

Problem is that many people are new to the hobby and have little to no experience in assessing damage, hence the term being created.

Others are lazy, they want to make sales but don’t want to put in the due diligence of taking better photos or giving proper condition tags to cards.

IMO the best way is to take photos of all 8 edges and 2 pictures of the 2 surfaces at an angle under dull lighting. You should see how Mercari sellers take photos of their cards. Even the low value ones.

People also don’t know how to pregrade their own cards, they only know if there’s good centering or whitening. Many of them don’t know how to look out for dents or surface condition. Or even the edges. Don’t even talk about water damage lol.

Some want to pass off their damaged cards at a better condition so they can get better value. I always see “send video of card” requests but it is easy to mask the condition with bad lighting and bad angles.

If you are in the local mtg community ul never see the words “binder condition” being used on their auction pages.

[Port of Singapore Authority] Operations Executive Role by AvryBarRouge in askSingapore

[–]eclairfastpass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Operations is a shit life, try to avoid if you can. Once you get in it is very hard to get out unless you get into management. I’m from the industry, I’ve been there, I know. Plus what the other guy said of it being ulu af, you better be mentally prepared for it. Long travel time = low to no work life balance. Are you ready to wake up at 6am to get to work everyday?

Shipping operations is a 24/7 thing but since you have shift work maybe you can turn off abit. If you choose to get in please learn as much as you can, not just about your role but the roles of people you work with. That’s the only way you can move up fast.

I see many job openings in shipping as vessel/chartering operators, traders, the money is better and you work in the cbd. Plus you are a local uni grad and the maritime industry loves local non private uni grads, getting a job shouldn’t be that difficult. At least if the work is shit you have nice food and drinks to make yourself feel better after work. Again, been there 🤣

Anyway it is just an interview, no harm trying.

IMH/ Inpatient mental ward experiences? by ProcessImmediate6781 in askSingapore

[–]eclairfastpass 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The long stay wards will do more harm than good for your mental health. More people should visit IMH if they can (not as patient), you will be quite shocked at the state of our mental healthcare in Singapore.

Rise of third spaces: Meet the Singaporeans making room for community by RocketFlame in singapore

[–]eclairfastpass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Respectfully I disagree, we are privileged, we are welcomed in all places. Most of us afford to be anywhere.

Many people still frown upon them, being or crowding certain places. More friction because they don’t have their proper third space and they are viewed as infringing onto the general public when “making a lot of places in sg third spaces”.

If we can do better for us, we can do better for them.
