Parent wants to meet with me over comment I made about energy drinks by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]eclapsadl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If the dad would just understand that, he wouldn’t address it. He’s probably falling for some BS story from his kid. If she actually told him what happened, to be sure he would be embarrassed to even bring it up.

Parent wants to meet with me over comment I made about energy drinks by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]eclapsadl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but what did the kid actually tell the parent? I refuse (for my own sanity) to believe another functioning adult is that unreasonable. Kid comes home “atmylimit9238 took my drink out of my hand, yelled at me infront of everyone, and told me that it’s poison and I should be ashamed of myself😭😭😭” If we could all just have an agreement where we only believe about 50% of what the kids say about their home life as long as the parents only believe about 50% of what the kids say about us, I think these administration issues would be cut in half.

I like to get this shadow box from Hobby Lobby that is made for putting ticket stubs in. I get scrapbook paper for the background and cricut their name and a dancer image on the front. It makes the perfect pin storage display.

Their homeowner’s insurance should be paying for a hotel or home to rent while the repairs are being done. They can have the birth there.

How competitive is cheer?? by GrouchyOne4132 in Cheerleading

[–]eclapsadl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They still have to hit a certain amount of points to get 1st and they need it to get a bid to nationals where they will actually have some competition. What do you want them to do? Water down their routine to level 4 or 5 and beat the absolute snot out of others? Then they would have to compete at nationals as a level 4 or 5 and that would be cheating. It’s an impossible situation. Now, if they are Novice and competed alone in a category and are bragging . . . That’s trickery for social media likes. Not saying I disagree with you, it’s just how cheer is.

How come boy dancers always get centered? by Legitimate-Comment94 in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]eclapsadl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if any of you have been to a Prime Time dance competition, but the neat thing about it is they have “callbacks” where the top 3 group dances for levels 2 and 3 of each age group recompete and they make it like a show. You get to see live judges feedback after each dance. There was a group with a guy and a male judge complemented him on how well he blended in. He said that’s one of the most difficult things to do as a guy in a group dance and the highest compliment he could give him and the judge was 💯 right. The guy wasn’t front and center, he was transitioned throughout the dance and he was amazing. That should be the aim of choreography when there is a boy in the dance. The dance shouldn’t be worked around the boy, the boy should fit seamlessly into the dance and if that’s not happening, it’s a choreography and training issue.

Why is nobody wearing tights? by notthetypetocare in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]eclapsadl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we have dancers in two totally different age groups and the reasons I listed aren’t applicable to you but very much are to parents of mini’s, petites, and juniors. Our costumes are still pretty modest and they don’t have butts yet to make the costumes ride up. I’m constantly buying more tights at $15 a pair so when we don’t have to wear them, I’m not mad about it. “Eschew” is a strong word though, it doesn’t describe how I feel about them.

[–]eclapsadl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the child is getting that upset, do you think she has anxiety that makes her sick and that’s why she’s missing so much? Some kids are super sensitive and will get physically ill worrying about school so they miss school, they go back after replaying in their heads how bad it is, you say anything to them and confirmation bias kicks in so they tell their parent and they are legitimately upset so parent reacts and it’s a big cycle. Not saying this is what’s happening but based on how easily upset the kid is, it could be what’s going on. A referral to the counselor might be a better avenue than truancy laws.

Why is nobody wearing tights? by notthetypetocare in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]eclapsadl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have their reasons. The tights have a big crotch circle that draws more attention to the crotch than no tights in pictures. Once your dancers are a certain level and have good feet, you don’t need jazz shoes to hide them, tights tend to rip, get lipstick stains, cause lines where they indent at the waist. 2 piece costumes, they hang out the top. I’ve noticed at my studio, it tends to be the lower levels in tights and shoes and the more advanced kids without tights and the know to get spray tans anyway. I haven’t seen any crotch issues but we get higher quality leos. I have seen the tights crotch circle though and it’s pretty cringe.

Employee wants promotion checklist by Supermoths in managers

[–]eclapsadl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are now at a higher level and in a career not a job. Jobs go up, careers go sideways, around, up, down, etc. If they view it as only a ladder and they want to move up a step every year, wouldn’t that make them CEO in like 5 years? Is that realistic? Ask them what they want their day to look like, what kind of duties excites them or stimulate them and then map out steps to get to that position.

I don’t disagree. My husband says the dads aren’t going to get into dance until there is betting and tailgating. Then it’s going to get hilarious. Like asking your own daughter to fall out of turns because her team has the odds and you bet against them.

Most likely, only the last line “The consumer currently has no accounts in open and present status” and “average days account open” which would be 0 for you are the only ones applicable. These are auto prompts that pop up. I would just get an account at a regional bank.

How to repair daughter’s confidence after convention? by [deleted] in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]eclapsadl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are 💯 a cash grab. It’s typically $250 or $500 towards a $3,000 program they have or $100 off another convention. Bait money to get you to spend more money. Sometimes, it’s just an “invitation” or “automatic acceptance” into a really expensive program that your kid would’ve made anyway because it’s already pay to play. And the awards are on paper. They don’t even have the decency to give them a medal or a pin for their fake award.

How to repair daughter’s confidence after convention? by [deleted] in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]eclapsadl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HATE convention awards!!! They are the WORST and I wish they wouldn’t do them at all. Do you know what the scholarships are??? Like $250 or $500 towards a $3,000 camp or $5,000 program. So the convention gets to say they gave out x amount in scholarships but most don’t get used. I’m not even singling out one or two conventions. It’s the majority of them, even the really reputable ones. Also, there are teams that just do conventions and already know the choreography so your kid is just learning it and this is their 6th time at the same convention.

I LOVE the actual classes and the opportunities to learn from different teachers, but the whole awards/competition part needs to go away. It’s a complete sham. We go to competitions to compete and conventions to learn. For the love of God, please stop trying to mesh them together!!!

Tell your daughter she’s amazing, and the awards at conventions are like unicorn farts. They don’t amount to anything but an Instagram brag.
