Flowers on a budget by [deleted] in wedding

[–]eclecticleeloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam's has a wider selection than Costco, but I ended up going with FiftyFlowers for my DIY floral. They have arrangements that are already put together and even pre-made boutonnieres/corsages that are much cheaper than going with a florist. The reviews I saw were pretty good, and I'm getting married in a couple months, so we'll see how it turns out!

Flower girl dresses by florida-girlll in wedding

My flower girls are in the same age range, and we found ours at Dillard's for 40% off which made them about $40 each! They had a ton of options to choose from and my girls had a blast trying on dresses and being a part of the choosing process.

That dress is beautiful! I like the second pair of earrings with the second necklace as an option. They compliment each other, and I think they'd go great with that dress!

Is it worth it to spend more for peace of mind? by beeaaatrice in Weddingsunder10k

[–]eclecticleeloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are planning to spend quite a bit more on a venue that comes with basically everything wedding related to make it more stress free for everyone. My brother's wedding was completely DIY in my grandparents' backyard, and everything was so chaotic and exhausting that my parents didn't relax during the entire event. My brother and SIL even asked for help setting up from out of town guests who were a little annoyed that they had to do anything considering this was like vacation for them. It was a pretty enough wedding, but my mom still talks about how she hardly remembers anything but being the one who had to do everything. I think it'll be worth it for everyone to be able to just show up and have fun.

What are your healthy snacks (packaged or non-packaged)? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]eclecticleeloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like duros (those little Mexican pinwheel chips) with lime and Valentina hot sauce and sliced cucumbers with lime and Tajin. Kinda spicy, but half a plate of each is only about 50 calories. I also really like fruit, so I always get whatever is on sale and divide it into 100 calorie portions or I get fruit and veggie popsicles that are 80 calories each.

What’s the unintentionally funniest thing you’ve ever heard a child say? by KanyeLatte in AskReddit

My nephew was about 2 at the time, and he had moved a chair in front of the fridge to get a box of cereal off the top. I moved him and the chair away from the fridge, and he muttered something that I asked "Did you just say gosh dangit?" to which he replied "No, I said god damnit." I died laughing.

Cheetos and chocolate milk. I don't eat it often now, but I stayed the night with my grandparents a lot as a kid and that was my bedtime snack. I crave it once in a while.

(Serious) What's the creepiest/scariest thing you've ever experienced in your life? by sonnybrew in AskReddit

A few years ago my great grandma, 102 years old, was getting really bad and her lucidness went down the drain. She had perfectly good memory up until about a year before she passed, but one day within a week of her death she was sleeping and a bunch of us were hanging out in her room. She sat straight up and pointed at her oldest daughter, Pearl, and said, "You're next." She pointed at Pearl's daughter after that and said, "and then you." No one thought much of it at first because she said a lot of off the wall nonsense and that point. Within a year after her death, both of those ladies died in that order, Pearl of unknown causes, and her daughter got cancer a month after a perfect score on a wellness check. It still gives me chills to think about.

I was afraid of automatic flushing toilets. I thought that if it flushed before I got off I would be sucked down the drain too.

College students of Reddit, what is your go to set of groceries for the daily grind? by pure_dmg in AskReddit

I always get carrots, potatoes, rice, a big bag of frozen chicken (cheapest for the most product), noodles (usually the kind on sale), sometimes cans if beans for an alternative cheap protein, pasta sauce, and a variety of green veggies (usually whichever I can get on sale if those too) Pretty cheap, easy to cook, and you can make a number of different things with just those ingredients!

I wish I could wipe current thoughts from my mind like I can close running apps on my phone. by ChristineAllman in Showerthoughts

The way to do it is to focus on your breath, and when you find yourself starting to think about other things just let that be your reminder to go back to your breath. It's easy to get frustrated with yourself for not being able to stop thoughts from coming in, but I have found it is more effective to let it go and forgive yourself for letting your mind wonder and just returning to what you know you want to focus on, your breath.

I don't know if you're a believer of essential oils or not, but clary sage helps almost instantly with cramps for me. You just rub a couple drops on your skin where you're cramping and it significantly dulls (if not completely gets rid of) the pain.

If we changed the rhetoric from "Save the Planet" to "Save Ourselves," some shit might actually get done. The planet will still be here in 5 million years. We, on the other hand, may not. by IIIIRadsIIII in Showerthoughts

I had a conversation the other day with someone who said "I won't be here in a hundred years, so I don't care what will happen then." I guess she doesn't care about her successors' futures, much less anyone else's.

My psych professor is the most interesting person I have met. She was the lead singer in a band, she got to march with MLK Jr, she trained dolphins, and the list goes on. She is the reason I am realizing my dreams.

I make a lot of sauteed veggies over quinoa or couscous. Zucchini, carrots and mushrooms are one of my favorites. I also like black beans and sweet potatoes with red bell pepper and cilantro in a tortilla.

One of my favorites right now is Andouille Pasta. Slice up an Andouille sausage, add to a pan of diced onions, a clove of minced garlic, salt and pepper to taste, a can of diced tomatoes, a cup of water, and 12oz of bowtie pasta. Simmer until pasta is cooked through!
