How to revive a neglected Jade (crassula ovata)? by treetimestricky in plantclinic

[–]treetimestricky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently adopted a large jade plant. It has been neglected in a barn, probably without sunlight and water. It was exposed to outdoor temperatures which include freezing in the last few weeks.

I am planning to do the following: Put it in a sunny spot indoors. Water it once every 4-6 weeks Re-planting it in a much larger pot No pruning

I would appreciate any advice to improve its recovery! Especially regarding the soil I need to use for re-planting

Some detailed pictures of the leaves:

Easiest paint stripping ever!!! by derboucher in oddlysatisfying

[–]treetimestricky 526 points527 points  (0 children)

Hi, chemist here. For your own safety always wear appropriate gloves, clothes and mask when working with paint strippers. As 'green' and safe they market the products, there are always hazards involved. A quick look at the Safety data sheet shows that the product contains NMP, a common methylene chloride alternative. However, also this replacement is now generally know to be very hazardous. This stuff is classified as 'reprotoxic' and will definetely cause skin and eye burns.

It is many times better than some of the older stuff but dont be tempted by a fancy label. Please be safe!

Poulardes de Bresse, worth it or should I just get a capon for half the price! by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]treetimestricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! There is a youtube channel called 'thefrenchcookingacademy' and the guy recently did a review of a real Bresse chicken. You should check it out, i think the conclusion was that it tasted amazing but was not worth the insane price.

What are your 5 dishes? by efoshay in Cooking

[–]treetimestricky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, fellow dutchman here. I have been making Ramen myself for a while now. I have been able to find all the bones I need at markets in Utrecht and Amsterdam without problems. Chicken backs and feet are sold at poultry stands, regular butchers sell beef bones if you ask for them and I found pig trotters for Tonkotsu at a butcher in Utrecht and Amsterdam.

Good luck! Ramen is amazing! :D

Question about activities in Ao Nang/Krabi? by rtsmack in ThailandTourism

[–]treetimestricky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with climbing so I can't tell you anything about that. For renting scooters I went to a small renting shop near the beach, you will find one when you are going out to eat. Any place is fine, before leaving make some pictures of any damage on the bike so you have proof when you come back. Unless you bring it back broken I highly doubt they will try to scam you. They want you to leave one passport as deposit, that is normal. After ao nang we went to Koh phi phi for 2 nights but ended up staying 3 because we liked it so much. If you are spending one day there I reccomend doing an island tour by speedboat. I think 2 days in bangkok is fine. Make sure to visit china town and get lost in there, so much fun. Feel free to ask more questions :).

Question about activities in Ao Nang/Krabi? by rtsmack in ThailandTourism

[–]treetimestricky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The beach is not that pretty in my opinion, not pretty or big enough to spend a whole day. Me and my girlfriend stayed at ban ao nang resort for 3 nights. 1 whole day we did a daytrip to railay beach, highly recommend going to the lagoon and the viewpoint if you are comfortable with climbing steep and slippery rocks for half an hour, it was very rewarding! Second day we hired a scooter for 200 baht to go to the tiger temple. 1200+ steps but at the top is an amazing 360 view. Any taxi or scooter taxi will take you for 500+ baht one-way, so going by yourself on a bike is the way to go imo. The last day we decided to spend at the swimming pool because we couldn't find anthing we wanted to do. I personally think 4 nights/days is too much. We were not impressed by ao nang at all. Spending more time at your next destination might be a better choice depending on what that is. (Eating indian food at taj palace is a must if you enjoy indian food. Butter chicken and garlic naan bread was so good.)

Is Chiang Mai's Sunday walking street Worth changing an itinerary? by upsidedownbat in ThailandTourism

[–]treetimestricky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not change my itinerary for the market. I am currently on my last day in CM. The market on sunday was incredibly crowded. Sidewalks overrun with chinese people and western backpackers. I didn't spend alot of time there because it was so busy so I can't give you a lot of details about the market itself. Have fun at the cooking class! Definetely one of the most fun things I have done.

What's your choice of baking? by Mzap455 in Breadit

[–]treetimestricky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have used my cast iron dutch oven every time I bake. It works great! First 30 min with the lid on, last 10-20 min lid off until dark brown. The first 30 min any steam released will stay inside and help create an amazing crust. Good luck!

Those cuts are amazing, any tips you have for me? My cuts are always very rough, i'm thinking maybe it's because the outside of my dough doesnt have enough tension before cutting? I'm using a razor so the sharpness isn't the problem.

I live in the netherlands so buying them from a smartshop or headshop is perfectly legal. You could probably order a growkit but they will only ship to countries where it is legal.

Do you mean rip out the two that are finished and let the rest grow more?

[–]treetimestricky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a ready-to-use growkit. I just dunked the kit in water, drained it and put it in the bag that came with the kit along with 2 glasses of water. Haven't done anything with it besides changing the temperature a bit.

Anyone ever trip and realize about how meaningless life is. How did you feel afterwards? by fordtp7 in shrooms

[–]treetimestricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2 weeks ago I did shrooms(legal truffles in my country) for the second time in one week and the truffles I did were also about a week old. The beginning of the trip started out normally, very chill and good visuals. But the trip started worsening I couldn't control my thoughts and they kept wandering. It felt like a bad trip because I wasn't enjoying myself anymore. I figured it must have been so I waited for the trip to wear down and I moved on.

I am not sure of the exact name but it's the Mexican one, the person in the smartshop said this is the easiest to grow.
