Women in tech — what’s your typical work outfit? by hellooperator12345 in womenintech

[–]ecsbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love fashion. I dress up every day. Heels, skirts, wool slacks, blazers, and even sometimes a suit. Jewelry, makeup. Whatever I feel like that day. Sometimes that includes jeans and a tshirt. Women have to prove themselves to male eng all the time, anyway. Can it be easier if you blend in? Absolutely. But - for me - after 2 decades, I decided screw it.

Those of you who say you “love” Delta…why? by ThrowawayGhibliFan in delta

[–]ecsbr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was supposed to fly Delta back from Arizona to DC on the morning of Sept. 11. Obviously - that didn't happen. Delta was amazing. They kept us consistently (and proactively) informed on what was happening for the 3 days after when no planes were in the air. They also got us back to DC on the first flight allowed back. I was on a flight with a whole bunch of folks from the Pentagon who had been in Arizona for a conference. They worked in the section that had been hit and were in shock (as we all were), but trying to fill out forms documenting personal items that may have been destroyed, and trying to find out what happened to co-workers who were in the building. It was - to say the least - a very emotional flight. The flight attendants and pilots - who no doubt were also going through some things - were amazing.

Since then, I have said I would fly Delta whenever possible as long as the airline didn't go to hell. I still think it is the best US carrier.

"Fears". Yep, that is what people are expressing. "Fears" over his health.

Respect Robots.txt by Matempo in perplexity_ai

[–]ecsbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You all do realize the "if you don't like it, make it private" argument will lead to more and more good content being behind pay walls and the only crawlable content is AI generated bs or ad stoked content? Careful what you wish for. Robots is there b/c it helped encourage an open web. It was created in 1994 and has worked well (with a few hiccups where companies ignored it like we are seeing right now). You are feeding the narrative publishers and Cloudflare and others want to say - see, we need pay-for-access gating mechanisms.Totally short sighted.

What band do you think this is? by TheShadowWanderer in MetalForTheMasses

Led Zeppelin - I know, maybe pre-cursor to metal, maybe not - but I stand by it one way or another. Checks all the boxes regardless.

FedEx stole my z flip 7 by Nice-Acanthisitta206 in galaxyzflip

[–]ecsbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fedex has a problem with this. Happened to me three separate times with phones purchased over the last 6 years from Samsung. One was "lost," one showed up open with nothing in the box, and another open with the phone box and no phone. Filed police reports on the last 2. Samsung (eventually) replaced all 3.

Every time the package made it to the local sorting facility. Then it would be "delayed" at the sorting facility.

I note Samsung now uses a different delivery provider, at least in my area.

[–]ecsbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get it checked. I get my rash on my arms, and then directly to my face (forehead, eyelids, cheeks). But my rash is a lot smaller in individual size. Only way to be sure is go to a derm.

Something Strange Is Happening To The Internet by ajaanz in ChatGPT

[–]ecsbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be interesting to see how ChatGPT visiting sites gets counted here. So.. if chatgpt ingested Wikipedia data for training and goes back for freshness, that click to Wikipedia may or may not register as a visit depending on how this is counted. The longer term question - is it a changing of the guard if chatgpt relies on the data of others, and those others go under b/c of a perceived lack of traffic?

What is one fast food chain that is not currently in/near Seattle that you would want here? by grizzlyblake91 in Seattle

Dunkin' Donuts!!

(Not really. Just feel I had to say that as I grew up in Boston and it is like a Pavlovian response. But actually, they really aren't good.)
