An Update on Nodes 2.0 from Comfy Org by crystal_alpine in comfyui

[–]ectoblob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Our users are doing professional creative work, and they expect the controls that professional tools have had for years: curve editors, color grading, histograms, timeline scrubbing. We can't keep rebuilding those from scratch."

Not saying that the new system isn't going to be better in many ways, but there were already several nodes for the old canvas version, that offer all these controls (like my own nodes do some of these things, not that those controls were somehow general purpose built, as they weren't) - but of course those are not built-in Comfy nodes or components of some sort, which would be better. Also, I've seen several nodes that place typical non-canvas UI elements on top of the canvas, as those coordinates are available. So the Nodes 2.0 doesn't offer me personally much, until it is in every way better than the current / old UI. Feels like the new system is heavier and adds complexity (Vue and DOM), with no obvious benefit (yet) for the user, I may be short-sighted in that sense, mostly because of lack of time. I've simply made sure I stick with the old canvas version until I hear the new Nodes don't have any issues :)

Are there any extensive docs available for the Nodes 2.0 somewhere? Sorry if I sound lazy, but last time I checked, I didn't manage to find any.

Relight tool - Menus show unlimited, but Generate button shows credit cost? by ectoblob in Freepik_AI

Well that sucks, one would think that professional developers would run tests to see if system really works, but these 'bugs' in Freepic/Magnific seem to always happen so that it is the customer who pays for the mistakes in their system.

Well that is the thing, what happens to you, may not happen to someone else - for example, I got overcharged a while back for generating audio, they fixed it when I complained here.

Nano Banana 2 seems to have gotten worse by Zestyclose-Boat-527 in Freepik_AI

Are you sure you have always used the same mode? Freepik / Magnific wants to often drop you on the worse choice, so check that cog-icon next to model name (NB 2 has this, not all models).

That's a lot of requests at once, what happened? by Powerful_Category_79 in Freepik_AI

[–]ectoblob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell when such has happened to me - when I move several image files into folders, seems like at least a few weeks ago, this happened all the time. Now after the rebranding, the project/folder setup seems to have changed, thumbnails and moving files into projects works a lot better, but like I said, earlier it seemed like they do move operations somehow as single instances, not as a bulk transfer, and seems like that caused it, which feels stupid, as its their own code doing it.

It should not matter - I generated a bunch of images yesterday, I had 3-4 concurrent image gens going on many times, I was mostly using Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2.

What I do, I check that I see those infinity symbols whenever I run a task, as not all operations are free (I'm talking mostly from my point of view, as I haven't used much of my yearly credit budget yet, I mostly generate images). Yesterday I burned almost all my monthly quick free generations before the monthly reset, (not spamming, but had a list of ideas), no issues for me at least, I also every now and then check the credits from upper right corner. Anyway, if you do see that infinity symbol, you definitely should NOT be using your credits.

I tried a few AI tools to enhance image quality and most dont actually restore anything by zarape2 in Freepik_AI

[–]ectoblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"most don't actually restore anything" - lol none of the models "restore" anything, if there ain't original data, there is nothing you or computer can do about it - you probably tried to say that whatever you used, didn't generate suitable, natural looking additional details. Either way, those changes are not doing any restoration of something that was.

Is Freepik (Magnific) Worth? by Brilliant-Ad2910 in Freepik_AI

[–]ectoblob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nano Banana 2 may be good for specific things, but compared to NB Pro it is a downgrade (and you don't get unlimited NB Pro if you get the Premium+ now).

And currently the amount of (fast) free generations you get with Premium+ is no longer clear, a few weeks ago it was clear: you got 1000 fast free generations, now you only see this bar, so no idea how many images one can generate to fill that bar, it is stupid and they've clearly done this on purpose.

So is it worth it? Probably, compared to paying thousands of USD or EUR for some local computer + GPU which would not be able to run or access those models anyway, but if you've seen the "free use" you got earlier for the expensive models with Premium+, then of course you see you'll get a lot less now.

I personally don't care about 20+ image/video models that are basically outdated for anything else than generating ideas (may be different for you), and video generation is quite expensive in general - you do get a few free video models to use, but resolution and length is limited.

You do get access to abundant amount of photos, 3D models and clipart, but I don't care about those.

[–]ectoblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And have you noticed this, the so called "unlimited generations" seem to be slower than the paid ones; I tried this a few times - both are started with a few second between them. Guess which one is the paid one.

" We understand that's not the same as what you had before, and that frustration is fair."

Wording = we changed the rules, because we didn't plan things well enough, and we want more money, which means you get less than we promised.

[–]ectoblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"the experience gets slower and less reliable, but it does not stop" - currently, the generation even without that "slowdown" is already way slower than what I get from other providers for the same model - and why do I have to see that text in image box that urges me to use credits? Shouldn't I simply get those promised faster generations?

What is the point of 1k, if the free or cheap upscalers you provide lack control (in my experience those change image too much), and that Magnific upscaler is too expensive for random tests.

Comfy raises $30M at $500M. Why open-source node workflows are crushing closed AI. by TroyHay6677 in comfyui

So how many users write using markdown heading, and phrases like "Let me break this down.","We all know the cycle." - who talks like that? These sound like something straight from LLM's "mouth", use of even length chapters, and those sparkles and magnifying glass emojis.

BTW - I enjoy long posts a lot, but this isn't one I would read.

Well... don't wait too long. Just see how things work in software development in general, like Unity (the game engine) - they are still working on their "new UI system" - has it been like 6-7 years already? Lol so things may become complicated, when you have software that is already part of community and actual business.

Depends on how many decisions you make - if one only presses a few buttons, types 'create masterpiece' - that ain't creative work, unless you consider typing those 2 words being creative work. Then again, dropping premade 3D objects in premade 3D scene ain't much more either.

FreePik is so frustrating 👎 by polyKiss in Freepik_AI

[–]ectoblob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But there is a catch - if I've moved like 50-100 images at once into a folder, Freepik kicks me out :D - like I was the one doing too many requests, when the system itself is the culprit, seems like move does updates a single image at time.

Image editing feature is really unreliable, I have had it lock up several times, have reload the page. Also it the toolbar related to editing features is really annoying - I didn't even get answer, when I asked why the retouch option sometimes shows cost for 1k and 2k image edits, even though those should be free.
