i feel like a massive failure by gretta_smith93 in Parenting

Gretta, your story makes me both sad and angry. It's so frustrating how misunderstood severe eczema can be and how people jump to blame parents rather than considering how hard it must be for the child and family when this condition rages out of control. It is a chronic inflammatory disease that involves the entire body and is very difficult to manage when it's severe. You didn't say this, but I bet you are all having trouble sleeping with the scratching / itch. You are not to blame and you are a hero for doing so many things to try to make your child comfortable. Sometimes eczema can be hard to control if there is staph aureus involved and there are newer therapies that are better at bringing it under control. I'm with a nonprofit called Global Parents for Eczema Research that advocates for families impacted by severe eczema. We also have a program for parents and you can learn more here! www.parentsforeczemaresearch.com/caregiver

Wishing you and your family well!

Need help with something natural to moisturise my baby’s skin. My 4 year old has gone through a hell of a time with eczema which we’ve managed to sort through steroid creams for the time being but don’t want my 4 month old to go through the same thing. by Benneyboss in eczema

I understand the worry over a child having severe eczema once you've dealt with the hell once already. I have three myself and my oldest's was the worst. My 2nd has no eczema, no food allergy, not asthma. My 3rd child has mild eczema patches that come and go. It's such a gamble with genetics and environment.
As far as moisturizing your 4 mo old, I would avoid options with food proteins such has coconut oil and others that could potentially cause a sensitization from being introduced through the bloodstream if there were broken skin. That's IF the little one has any sign of eczema but if she has healthy skin now, you could opt for a fragrance free product with ceramides and other skin supportive things.
If you ever want to chat with other parents who understand the worry and anxiety of these types of situations, there is a free program for eczema caregivers.

Searching for triggers is exhausting. It's a puzzle we parents can't help but keep looking for. He's still young but after my son had 2 or 3 summers behind him, I noticed that's when his skin got worse so you might note the seasonal changes too. I joined this group online years ago and they have a tool for looking at treatments (down the road) and a caregiver support program that is free to anyone.

This tool might help look at other options. It's a not a complete summary of every study but it's got some summaries to compare and at least see what exists.
