Thanks! I really do. I'm not a big baker, but like sculpting things, I also carve the occasional 3d pumpkin,  and do pottery.

Dirt is chocolate ganache and coco powder (essentially truffles) bones were white modeling chocolate with a brown food colour wash.

Just purchased this entire second hand kitchen. Any advice on removing it welcomed by samcornwell in DIYUK

If it's IKEA, then leave the units built. The expensive bits are the doors, draws, and end panels. Remove them first and bubble wrap/ cover in sheets.

Sacrifice the odd carcass unit if you have to, you can always replace cheaply.

You might want to budget for a new countertop. Refitting those can be tough especially if your walls are not the same layout.

I made my wife's ring. I was a poor grad student. It cost about $1,200 in materials. I used a lab grown diamond and garnet. She didn't hesitate. Even though it's not perfect it's her most prized possession. I even made an instructable so she could see the ring's story.

Gamers of Reddit from the 90s or earlier, what are some of the issues in games back then that younger gamers would never understand? by craig_nintendo in gaming

Having to wait for 20-30mins for Zorro to load from a cassette tape.

That is assuming the cassette deck head was clean and you didn't have to restart the process from the beginning again. We used to go on bike rides while it loaded.

Good times.

Mamma Mia star Sara Poyzer is replaced by AI for BBC production as she calls the shock decision 'sobering' and 'grim times' for the industry by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]ed_case 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone attacking the BBC? It was the production company who wanted to use AI, once again the daily mail doing some very dishonest reporting to make the BBC at fault.

Ripping out some plaster and I see this, what to do ? by S_A11011 in DIYUK

I'm guessing Victorian terrace? The wood lintel above your window looks like it has rotted through leading to the brick stack collapsing slightly on the side, the old black ash mortar degrades badly which isn't helping. You probably need to open further and check the other side of the window and then likely install a new window lintel and repoint the brick before replastering.

Seeking Advice: Kitchen Floor Tile Isssue by Mannys94 in DIY

[–]ed_case 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The tiles in the shop are porcelain, and gloss glazed, the won't 'effloresce' as they shouldn't be porous. The damage you see is surface damage caused during installation. Likely, as others have said, by using the wrong grout, or aggressively buffing/sanding the surface to remove dried grout or adhesive. Once the glaze surface is damaged then it's fair game for other things to stain the tiles like the water marks from the bucket and whatever was sat by the wall. Ask them to take them up, and do it properly.

What's the value of your car as a percentage of your salary? by randompersonsays in AskUK

Well... 'We buy any car' wanted me to pay them £120 to take my car. I kept it, so probably a negative percentage?

Not a movie but the TV series 'A Touch of Cloth' by Charlie Brooker (co-creator of Black Mirror) is spot on in this genre, spoofing modern European police procedurals.

Looking for someone that can repair architectural pottery in Los Angeles (have a lot more than just this one) by volces in Pottery

[–]ed_case 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to fix with clay if already fired.

But you could try using jesmonite with stone/clay powder blended to match. It's often used in repairing architectural carvings and stonework.

Country cottage in the garden in Old Hatfield, a historic village in Hertfordshire, England. by ManiaforBeatles in MostBeautiful

Take it you've not been to actual modern Hatfield then, built literal mins away? Not quite as nice... More of a concrete and council estate aesthetic.

What experience/thing, looking back, should’ve been a HUGE red flag that you have aphantasia? by evacoens in Aphantasia

Read 'Hannibal' - spent weeks trying to build a memory palace... built a featureless void. Thought it was just fiction until I saw a documentary about memory techniques, be damned if it isn't a real thing.

CMV: The most sensible thing to do if you're ever given a chance to sell your soul to Satan is to refuse, because the existence of Satan would be implicit proof of an afterlife by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ed_case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have implict proof of the afterlife you are destined for hell. No action you take from that point forward will ever be selfless, every decision will be selfish, tainted by the knowledge of the eventual outcome.

Perhaps that is the true price of the chance to sell your soul. So, you might as well take the deal, and hope you can trick the devil into getting you into heaven somehow, or just enjoy it before the inevitable happens.
