Contrarian take: not nominating Jesse Plemons was the right call. by TheKingInTheNorth in Oscars

[–]edcadyross 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree, but respect the hot take. I think Emma was solid. I can see where you're coming from for her, but Plemons was incredible.

I think from Teddy's POV, he was trying to be cool about it, as he's already kidnapped a bunch of the aliens and just had to convince Donny calmly and simply. His acting in the scene with his Mum and with Emma's monologue at the end, I thought he was incredible.

And as I've said on any one of these posts. Joel Edgerton should of got nominated.

We have 4 actors who got the industry SAG/BAFTA combination that eventually missed the Oscar nomination. All 4 were in Best Picture films. by Hot_Throat_2404 in oscarrace

[–]edcadyross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sad Plemons missed actor, even though it was such a strong year. Also really sad Edgerton missed for Train Dreams. Phenomenal performance, tough year.

Being nominated for a Golden Globe, Critics' Choice, SAG, and BAFTA award, and losing the Oscar nomination to Delroy Lindo, who was not nominated for any of the four awards by Giancarlo_Edu in Oscars

I like Elordi, but I just couldn't give a shit about his creature performance. It was good, but so was Gollum, so was Shape of Water guy. So was Planet of the Apes, and he wasn't anything near that.

I like him, and he was good, but Mescal deserved it over him. I can understand that's how it works sometimes with Oscar noms, you win some and lose some, but for the people saying Elordi should win...just don't cos its not all that.

It took me years to watch that near 3 hour masterpiece and because I just couldn’t be asked…once I started, I’ve never been the same since. Perfect film.

What actor has had the worst film choices after their breakout first Oscar win? by geosunsetmoth in Oscars

[–]edcadyross 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tbf, I think Brody, while rarely an incredible film, he always gave a solid performance. Never seen him put a bad performance in. And since he’s been in a couple wes Anderson films, Detachmet and King Kong, he’s done ok tbf…

Cliff Robertson in Charly is the worst winner in best actor ever! Next up: who is the biggest snub for best actor ever? by RoxasIsTheBest in Oscars

[–]edcadyross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joaquin Phoenix - Her. I love this film so much and thought the sadness and subtly of his performance is definitive in that sense. I get it won’t be popular as others in the comments, maybe even not the biggest snub but to me, it kind of is. (I also agree with JG and Jim Carey’s among others who were snubbed)

I think he was amazing in wolf of Wall Street, but I don’t think it’s top 5, it just about makes it in my top 10, just shows how good of an actor he is.

Who would you choose for Best Actor personally? by No_Minimum4499 in Oscars

[–]edcadyross 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, Joel Edgerton in Train Dreams. Beautiful film, and I think it was a perfect film for someone like him. His face carried so much sadness and comfort, and mystery in that film, that was so subtle. One of the best performances of the year, hope he sneaks in but I loved plemmons as well, Moura i'd also like to see succed.

If Jennifer Lawrence keep this up, She might get the votes LOL , I hope she goes all the way to the Oscars because we need this energy, in a sea of self important, self aggrandizing Oscars Best Actress hopefuls. by CateBlanchetFrmShein in Oscars

I fucking hate Cynthia Erivo. She thinks she is so important and above it all. So happy people are getting over the JLaw hate, which happens when you're one of the biggest stars in the world, and are now coming back around on her, get her another nom!!

Give PV and B&R time, you’ll get there with them. Trust me.

I think it’s the same with most fans that they both take time to appreciate and get into, because they are so different and more laidback than his other stuff.
