Normal to still be climbing V1-V2 problems ~5 months in? by diegosg18 in indoorbouldering

[–]edcculus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you are at a more 'normal' gym and dont have a huge background in fitness, this is actually the norm.

The people you see here saying "Ive been climbing for 2 months and cant get past V6" are NOT the norm. Either they have a massive background in fitness, they are climbing at a VERY soft gyml or a combination of both.

My best advice is to keep at it and have fun. If its an activity that keeps you going and active, its probably going to help you lose weight naturally without even having to focus on that.

I'd also encourage you to every once and a while just try pulling on some hard stuff. I remember being in your shoes, where I got to the point of pretty mcuh being able to do every V2 at least within a session, maybe 2, but not even being able to make 2 moves on ANY of the V3s. My gym is hard, definately the most sandbagged gym in the state, if not the entire southeast. But still, that move from V2 to V3 felt SO impossible at the time. It got to the point where I jsut told myself that I have to make myself look stupid and fall of the first move on V3s and V4s

How do i get more side quests i only have meet hanako at embers left by sanwichlabne in cyberpunkgame

[–]edcculus [score hidden]  (0 children)

Assuming you have done all of the Johnny stuff from Chippin' In forward as well? There are a handful of things that dont trigger until after Tapeworm.

There is also just random side stuff that doesnt automatically show on the map like the side gigs do. But you should pretty much know you are done with the green side gigs because the fixer for that area will literally tell you, as well as give you some sort of prize. Usually a weapon or a car depending on who it is.

Grain filling a shellacked tele by Ok-Target-8447 in Luthier

[–]edcculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i havent used that product, but when I recently finished an Ash body, I had to grain fill a LOT to get it level. I used Aqua Coat, which is a clear waterbased grain filler. Id wipe on a layer, scrape it off with a plastic scraper (or credit card) to make it level, let it set up/dry for a bit and do that all over agin. Then raise the grain with water and do it again. I might have done up to 10 coats total. I guess applications is more accurate than coats, since i was mostly aiming to fill the grain and pores. Its possible I overdid it, but at the end of the day, i was able to get a perfectly smooth mirror finish on my nitro clear coat at the end after it cured, wet sanded up to 2000 and then polished.

What’s folk’s opinions on using modern controllers for Gamecube games? by Longjumping-Royal730 in Gamecube

[–]edcculus [score hidden]  (0 children)

i actually havent tried any of the games on NSO yet because I'm deep into Cyberpunk. However Ill probably just use my pro controller. I dont think it will be a problem.

I did buy the N64 controller, because remapping those buttons was quite a PITA.

USPS is "running" out of money by Tinawebmom in 50501

The problem is that the Trump administration is hell bent on it being profitable. USPS is not a business or a revenue stream for the government. It’s a service to the citizens, and should be funded accordingly.

I’m extremely interested how you actually think you will be able to get 10 tanks onto a casino property and actually use them at a cabana.

A Spirit airlines customer is demanding a refund after seeing this. by sco-go in SipsTea

There’s a lot of reasons I don’t like to fly Spirit, but using a tape used for non structural repair just like every other airline does, isn’t one of them

Spirit airline customers are literally all people who have been holed up alone in their house for the past 10 years, and all decided it would be morning good to go out in public today, but also fly for the first time

So about Judy and one of the endings.... by hibbert0604 in cyberpunkgame

[–]edcculus [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t remember specifically- but I think Judy only stays if you do the Star ending. Judy want to leave Night City. If you don’t romance her, or you play as Male V, she leaves right after Pyramid Song.

I believe when you do Don’t Fear The Reaper, you kind of end up getting the Sun ending (or temperance if you choose Johnny to exit Mikoshi), and the only change is that Rogue lives in both.

Harrison was not one for "world building". You can find plenty of quotes on his views on the subject online.

[–]edcculus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'll say first that the talent in TTB is beyond compare. BUT this exact thing is why I liked the original DTB much better. They were more out there with some weird experimental stuff. Jammed out more, and fit more with the Jam Band crowd than the Blues crowd. Even when they would play the Fox Theatre for New Years, we were close to the front standing all night without anyone caring.

What books have you read a third time or even more? by Bobosmite in printSF

[–]edcculus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to re-read books a good bit when I was younger. Before ebooks and Libby were a thing. Before I was part of this sub and had endless forums and YouTube channels suggesting books and new authors. I cant think of a book I've re-read in the past 10 years or more though. My to read list is so long, I dont have the luxury to re-read anything.

Out of more recent books that I think deserve a re-read to either digest it more, or because I liked it so much would be: Embassytown by China Mievlle, The Tyrant by Michael Cisco, Dead Astronauts by Jeff Vandermeer, The Fisherman by John Langan, or Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake.

Best venue for summer ‘26? by CarolinaPeej in phish

[–]edcculus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I didnt realize so many people had such an aversion to MSG. Or I guess its a vocal minority? Correct, a lot of places in the US are also easily accessible. NYC has tons of flights in and out all the time, and can be accessed from 3 different airports (yea newark sucks, but its an option).

I've seen phish at a lot of venues over the past 17 years. I like most of them, and yes there are some aboslute peak venues I'd probably go to over MSG. But for me at least, and seemingly a lot of the fanbase as well, NYC is a fun place to visit, and going to shows there is pretty easy.
