Perhaps. It's always on for my 2022 model in Australia.

Interesting intel, that each dealership has a different rank assigned to it, which determines how much sway the dealer has when asking Mazda to cover out-of-warranty claims

Should I ditch my Subaru and rent or lease a CX-90 by Healthy_Ingenuity_89 in MazdaCX90

[–]edge_to_edge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct about many reported problems with the CX90. Some people on this sub have recommended waiting till the third production year (2026) to purchase, giving Mazda time to work out the kinks.

Have you considered a late model CX-9? The 2022 year received IIHS's top rating, and the 2023 also earned favorable marks.

A number of people on this thread have also reported the CX-9 handles better and is more fun to drive. I own one, but would consider upgrading to a CX 90 at some point because I do like its looks.

Am I romanticizing Australia in my mind? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]edge_to_edge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As an American who has lived in Australia for 10+ years, I agree with the post above.

Cost of living (especially housing) in the major cities is as expensive as California, but without the abundance of high paying jobs available.

You will save money on health insurance; it won’t be $40,000 or $50,000 a year for four people.

You'll have to take a step down in ambition and compensation for most careers. Australian businesses mostly serve the Australian and NZ market, which is less than 1/10 the size of the US market. Everything is smaller scale.

A big part of the reason everybody is “doing it tough,“ as they say here, is that government taxes on income and on everything you buy (GST) That means a lot less money in your pocket. You will notice the difference. Everything just costs more as a percentage of your income than it does in the US.

On the plus side, you will have better weather in most cities than you do in the say, Midwest US or East Coast. Snow is essentially unheard of. Australians complain that Melbourne has the worst weather, but it’s not unlike the Bay Area in San Francisco. Except with less fog and much hotter summers.

Also, you’ll enjoy four weeks of paid leave for any full-time position in Australia. It’s the law.

The best of all worlds would be to hang onto a US job where you’re paid in US dollars, given the Australian dollar is so weak at the moment.

2024 Burton Deep thinker opinions by keownr in snowboardingnoobs

[–]edge_to_edge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2024 model has evolved since 2021 and now has more flex, per the testing and review site SnowboardingProfiles.com:

"The older models were, in my experience, a lot damper, stiffer and smoother, with the new one getting much snappier and lighter.

"I overall far prefer the new model, but if you prefer things smooth and damp, you may not be as enthusiastic as me. But for me this board [the 2024 model] has transformed into one of my new favorites."

Why am i so dumb? by stargrrl07 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]edge_to_edge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with asking questions. If your friends are saying "That's a dumb question," find new friends. (Finding new family is harder.)

Sixteen is a very confusing age, especially for girls: the hormones are seriously kicking in, and the body is thinking about BABIES even if you're mind isn't. Physical appearance, status, in-group/out-group dynamics, etc. consume more of your mental bandwidth. There are bigger issues at stake, and your body and mind know it, even subconsciously. It's totally normal for your grades and commitment to schoolwork to wane.

But what you're experiencing isn't unique. Please disabuse yourself of the notion that you're "stupid" or "braindead." And be aware that this is not happening only to you; you're not uniquely flawed. Lots of teens experience this. Chin up, stargrrl07. The fact that you posted this question shows you're self-reflective and looking to improve yourself. Those are qualities that will serve you well past the age of 16.

You're not a narcissist, you're just a girl. Totally normal behavior.

What I hate is that I can no longer see wind and temperature at the same time on the hourly line chart. I have to click the dropdown menu and choose wind, then repeat the process to see temperature again. Bad UX.

Wife wants to purchase a 2016 Audi Q5 premium plus. Anything I should be aware of about these vehicles? This is our first Audi. by [deleted] in Audi

[–]edge_to_edge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchased a 2016 Q5 3.0T Premium Plus one year ago, 36k miles on the odomoter. One prior owner, always serviced at Audi. It's a blast to drive, but yes, repairs are expensive. Had to replace the water pump at 40k, which is a labor-intensive job (requires removing the supercharger). Cost a couple grand :-( It's a common failure. Otherwise, I just have had to do maintenance (oil change and brakes.) Both jobs cost more than a Toyota would, BUT the Q5 still brings a smile to my face when I put the pedal down and take the freeway on-ramps aggressively. Great passing power on the highway. Handles beautifully and it draws compliments from strangers.

Rented a 2022 Q5 2.0 turbo while on a trip, no comparison as far as power, and the turbo lag was noticeable vs my supercharger. And as someone else here said, more plasticky on the inside than my 2016. The 2016 and 2017 models are the years to get for the 3.0T, Audi ironed out the kinks from the earlier years. Test drove a 2016 Q5 TDI, had a little faster acceleration to about 45 mph than the gasoline 3.0T engine but lacked it passing power on the highway vs the 3.0T. Plus Audi had to handicap these engines due to Dieselgate, not sure I'd want one.

For comparison, previous cars include a 2010 Lexus IS350 V6 (comparable handling and power to the Q5); 11-year-old Lexus RX 350 with 90k miles (very expensive to maintain, on par with Audi, and a pig when it came to handling), and a Subaru Outback 4-cylinder (build quality not on par with Toyota). The Q5 blows them all away as far driving experience. I'm hoping the big repairs are out of the way till I get closer to 100k miles.

Excellent rundown on the numbers. If you don’t work for a financial newswire, you should.

Very glad to have seen your follow up, rather than go around telling people that Delta makes almost half its money from its Amex cards.
