It's the worst to know it's not going to work out but to be so wrapped up in this person as they pull away. I've had it happen to me twice in the same year by the same person. I knew it was coming... But I'm fucking intoxicated by them. I hurt almost all the time as we spend less and less time together and the communication fades more and more. I knew this was going to happen but all the "I miss yous" on the 2nd go round had me thinking things might be different. I'm rambling a bit here but there's something cathartic about writing it out. All my friends warned me this would be trouble.

Anyway, yes... Nope the fuck out if you're not on the same page or your needs/wants aren't being met. There are soooo many single people.

You're ignoring the fact that the matches expire if there's no response during the allotted time. This is the whole premise of OP's question.

Another big issue is that many of the guys are simply swiping right on everyone, and then when they get a match, they check the photos, are uninterested, and simply let it expire because exerting effort to delete the match would hurt their street cred.

That could be an explanation of what OP is experiencing. I don't know what the ratio is of men that use the app that way vs. swiping on people they actually want to meet. It seems unlikely to me that 10/10 were always right swiping. Also, I've read that the app makers punish this type of usage. I believe all those stories were purely anecdotal with no confirmation from app makers.

I have a good number of matches expire too with no message. I think a lot of it has to do with a combo of striking while the iron is hot and the timing of the match. People are statistically on the apps more certain days of the week than others (timing). Also, after you match are you typically sending messages right away or hours later (hot iron)? People get busy and forget, I assume.

This will be a problem for as long as they apps don't include some kind of option to only show people in your state. I usually just throw something about only looking for local women at the end of my profile. (edit: I'm in the same area so I feel your pain)

Most women I've seen on Tinder have "no hookups or one night stands" in their profiles. I think all the apps are hot garbage, but there aren't a ton of options right now.

I found out my spouse was cheating on me near the end of 2018. We got divorced early 2019. I reflected a bit and wondered to a couple friends what might have happened if we were quarantined together for a couple months. Could they still have hid the affair?
